Hi everyone :)

I just started my weight loss journey yesterday, and joined this forum just now. Yesterday was my first day at the gym. I am planning on going six days a week, Sunday being my day off. I am currently 235 lbs, planning to get to about 110 or so. I know I've got a long, long journey ahead of me. Just wanted to say hi and hopefully find other people who are on the same journey I am!

Welcome aboard ashley. This is a great forum where we can find more threads that give us idea on losing weight.

Good for you to start because its never to late. I lost 40lbs and i promise you it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Your whole life changes and i hope you make it just never give up

Thanks guys! :)

I definitely wont give up. A few months back I decided to do the whole gym thing and had VERY unrealistic expectations. Everyone was telling me that they lost 5-10 lbs within two or three weeks so naturally I expected the same. When the 3 week mark came and I weighed myself after going to the gym religiously and eating healthfully and I still hadn't lost one pound, I gave up and I stopped going. I feel the regret now with stopping as I know that right now I could be closer to my goal weight if I kept with it and this sucks so I'm not giving up. I CAN do this. :D

I notice a lot of people seem to think that working out at the gym is the way to lose weight. Well, it does help, but it is no guarantee of anything. The main thing is your diet. You can run yourself ragged in the gym for hours, then eat enough in about 10 minutes to cancel that all out.

You say you were eating healthily. It is very possible to eat healthy food, but too much of it. If you didn't lose any weight in 3 weeks, that's probably what was happening.

I'm definitely being careful now. I've never really been shown what a proper portion is or anything like that but I've taught myself so now I feel like I'm going to be much more successful this time around.
