New girl on the block

Hi
I'm a 33 year old mother of two, who's been struggling with her weight since I had my first child back in 2000. I'm 5' 1 currently at 138.5 pounds and trying desperately hard to lose 20 pounds. I'm here because I want to get motivated and get new ideas about losing weight. I'm very active. I run, love to take cycling classes, play volleyball, and workout atleast 4-5 times a week. I've been through 2 different personal trainers and neither one got me to the shape I wanted to be in. So I'm doing it myself with some motivation from all of you. Let's see where all this goes...

Welcome to the forum. Good for you for being so active. You'll find a lot of helpful people here. Maybe you'd like to start a diary here like many do.

Hi mnexercisegirl and welcome to the WLF

My guess is that losing weight is about 80% diet. If you keep track of what's going in, you'll have a good idea of how much you need to maintain or lose.

Have you kept a food diary?

I'm thinking about doing the diary, but I just have to be consistent with everything. Maybe I'll try it and see where it goes. It can't hurt right? Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Your guess it totally right when it comes to me. My diet is so out of whack it's painful. I've done the food diary when I had my last child and it did work. I was very conscious about what I ate because I didn't want to write down that I ate McDonald's or that snickers bar. But I've been lazy and busy with life and that has been my downside. I will have to try the food diary again. thanks for the advice!
