Hi there I am new to the forums also. You have made a good start by stopping smoking. My husband stopped smoking soon after we got married and that was 5 years ago. I cant imaging him going through that now. I have a feeling it would be harder for him. So its good you have that out of the way and can focus on healthy eating. Also my man put on weight after he stopped. But that was a phase he went through and now eats healthy. Junk food ( and beers for hubby) are a problem for us. We both have a sweet tooth and weekends are a killer. We have made a promise we will keep each other in check and make sure we lay off the junk food.

We do make popcorn at home with Olive oil, which I dont see are being that unhealthy, you can try that as a late night snack, it works for us. Also try making yourself a hot drink like tea, just dont load with sugar. And always remember to drink water, something I need to do more of. If you feel hungry after eating drink some water, you may feel you dont feel hungry afterwards.

A lot of the time we snack when we arent really hungry. And dont have things in the house to snack on that are bad for you. If its there you are tempted to eat it. If I dont have junk food in the house I just dont eat anything else, even if I have a craving. I definately keep my calories down by making sure I only have healthy food at home. Fruit is also really good to snack on. I love having grapes in the fridge, I snack on a few of those and that takes the edge of if I feel hungry and its low calorie. Apples are good also. String cheese is good to have around.

Thats a lot of information. It seems to work for me so thought to share. Hope that gives some helpful tips for you and others who may read it.

You seem to be on the right track though.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. I hate fruit so that kinda sucks LOL What is string cheese?? I didnt drink water at all before and now im drinking 2 litres a day :hurray:

I have been going to the gym and exercising/classes/weights nearly every day for the past 3 weeks. I have just been reading the threads around here to educate myself so hopefully i can get a plan in place :seeya:

Thanks Marie. Any advice from you is much appreciated!!

My goal is to be fit and healthy and fit comfortably into my clothes.

I want to get down to 55kg. Am currently a bit over 63.
I have been working out nearly every day. 30 - 45 min treadmill. 30 mins weights every 2 day. A body pump class or just going for a 4 km walk down the beach. I also have a dvd which i find has been a great workout. just for those days i cant get to the gym. I find im much more motivated in the gym. I dont work as hard outdoors but i also need to get out into the fresh air.

I am and always have been such a night owl. Mostly not going to bed until 12am. So im changing that as well. I even went to the gym at 6.30 last week. That is HUGE for me.

As far as diet goes what ever i ate before im not eating. I have such a sweet tooth. Night time is the worst. I would eats lots of cake, icecream, choc etc etc. And coke was my worst enemy. I have had 3 cans in the last month opposed to 3 a day. If im craving chocolate i will have a milky way instead of a block. I never ever ate breakfast. i dislike fruit im more of a veggies girl. And rarely drank water
Now...

Breakfast is oats with lite milk and honey.
Snacks - mandarin or cruskits with salmon and cottage cheese
Dinner is meat/fish/chicken with either veggies or on mountain bread with salad etc.
1.5 - 2 litres water.

So i started a month ago and havent lost any weight. but thats ok. Im more concentrating on my fitness for now and hopefully the fitter i get the more i can do :D
