Soon to be...

First off, you are more than welcome to join our run to St. Louis, but I know you have a hell of a head start ;-)

My advice is this, recognize this weight loss as a life style change. I just read someone on here recently that weight loss is just a by product of healthy living and good choices. It's fantastic to set a goal of losing x amount of pounds, but trust me, I've been exactly where you are now, 21 years old and thinking weight loss is the most important thing. The amount of weight you lose is not entirely up to you. Granted you'll get there, but don't set yourself up to hit 20lbs in 2 months and then get discourage after two weeks because you only lost 2lbs or none at all.

When I was 265ish I went gung ho on the treadmil walking and doing some weights. I walked close to an hour and half a day for the first 3 weeks and dropped down to about 1 hour a day after that. My first 9 weeks I lost 20lbs and it was due to not only walking, but eating better too.

1.Eat Breakfast everyday, get your metabolism up and running..after about three days you'll wake up hungry and start eating a bigger breakfast.

2. Keep it very simple and sustainable at first. I'd recommend an hour of walking at least. If you played football or any other sports in high school, you know walking an hour is nothing compared to what you used to do on the field/court

3. Come to boards for support and post in other people's journals. We're all in the same boat my friend.

4. Maintain an attitude that you can do this.

5. I know you are dead set in your goal right now. Nothing is going to stop you. But know this, you will fall down and make some bad choices. You will fall off the wagon and eat a pint of ice cream or drink that case of beer over a weekend. You will have setbacks. Know this now, and make a promise to your self that you will not let a single setback throw you back into the old habits you have.

6. Food is not a reward. Food is not a reward. Do not reward your efforts with eating bad food.

7. Contrary to to item 6, have a cheat meal once a week. We're all human.

That's my advice. Welcome to the forum and I look forward to some pics! Check out mine in the before and afters if you want to know where I'm coming from. I'm down close to 40lbs in 11 months and I have a long way to go, but slow and steady wins the race.

Btw, where in Kentucky are you from. I used to Frequent Paducha when I went to SIU-Carbondale. Dirt Cheap beer and cigarettes ;-)

thanx for all the advice man and yea i understand the set backs ora-deal but hey like u said were all human and if i decide to throw a few back on the weekend with my buddies while fishing or playing pool or whatever!!! thas okay im not gonna u know deprive my self from the prime of my life to drop that extra pound ill jus double up next week......cause im not morbidly obese or anything i jus needa drop a few pounds and tone up a bit!!! and i know where paducah is however its pretty far away im from a small town called Lancaster which is about 35 miles from lexington

Hey welcome to the boards. Like bgdave said feel free to join our run to St. Louis. You should start a weight loss journal if you haven't already. It really helps to keep you motivated. Another thing I do to keep myself motivated is take pictures every week.
