New Diet For Me!!!

Hello all. It's my first time posting. I'm 5'10 and approximately 232lbs. I've never been this fat in my life. Once I was 178 when I met my wife. 3yrs of dating her and 2yrs of marriage later I can't take it anymore. Two days ago I started my diet. I'm taking it simple. Egg whites with two high fiber toast and coffee for breakfast. Fruit snack. Grilled fish or grilled chicken breast with salad or veggies for lunch. Fruit snack. Same type of lunch for dinner. Fruit snack. NO sodas. NO Sweets (which I love). NO fried foods and barely starch. I've done this before and I've had success so let's see what happens. Weekends are a killer for me though cause I like going out to restaurants but for sure this is going to change!!

Hi Rob, hope everything goes well for you :) I personally couldn't do the diet with none of the things I love ever again/ for the forseeable future (which is what you appear to be saying), but all power to you if you can (I plan to plan for and incorporate in a treat every now and again- say once a month or so, keep it small, buy it from a restaurant/ cafe so I don't have any crap in my house, and budget it into my calorie allowance. Not sure if that'd work for you)

You sound like you might like the weight watchers diet. It worked for a friend of mine. You can eat whatever you want as long you don't pass your daily points...look into it

Good luck to you, Rob! You can do it! = D

Don't forget to treat yourself every now and then. Just don't eat the entire container of ice cream or four candy bars and you'll be good, haha. = )

Hi Rob! Welcome to the forum. I also started around the 232 mark and have lost / gained several time over the last few years.

Do you think you will be able to maintain the diet you listed above for the rest of your life? No more eating out, no sweets, treats... ever? Losing weight is hard, and we want to do it as fast as possible but if we don't make a LIFE LONG change, we will start to yo-yo. I had the same mindset as you when I lost weight last time. I wanted to reach my goal so badly so that I could loosen up on the diet and eat again... but I didn't know how to eat out or eat 'bad' things in moderation. Once I made it to 175 I was unable to maintain. I gained it all back (70 pounds).

Now I am losing weight while still enjoying food. I have a cheat meal every week and I know I can stick with this plan for the rest of my life.

Good luck to you! Congrats on starting your journey - that is the hardest part!

This concept is just like calorie counting..but no monthly plans :)

Thanks for the suggestion :) At the moment I'm calorie counting (trying to do it myself because I can't really afford to be joining programs and such), but trying to make sure that I meet certain requirements as well (at least 5 and ideally 7 80g servings of fruit and vegetables- mostly vegetables- a day, low fat, enough protein- although I'm not entirely clear on what's enough- and ideally less than 100g of meat a day). I figure this is a bit like saving up for something, or like when I was a kid and my mum promised me treats if I was good for a set period of time. So if I save a certain amount of calories (without starving myself), and eat more or less the right things over a certain period (two weeks? a month? I haven't worked that out) I can have a bad thing worth that number of calories. (I've already experienced that, although before I'd saved/ waited- my boyfriend took me out and I had a 194 cal serve of chocolate ice cream. It was tiny, but it was gooooood :drool5: - and I didn't feel guilty, because it was controlled and I'd planned for it within my day's calorie budget. I hate feeling guilty about eating)

For sure I'll treat myself...but only once a week. I'll look forward to it. Lol

Hi!

Hi Rob! Best of luck on your journey. A happy relationship can be a killer for your bod, all those cozy nights in! In the 6 months I've been married I'm already back to the heaviest I've been in 2 years so I'm all for being pro-active and making a stand! Her's to us all being happy but healthy too

Thanks for your two cents. This diet that I have put together will be while I'm taking off the weight. Of course I will be giving myself a once a week cheat... Once I get my weight down, i'll gradually eat more and keep that life long change. Hope for the best!!

Well that's good as well. It's pretty much the same concept as weight watchers...good luck
