I'm so glad I found this site! I'm SO ready to start losing weight!!

I'm 5'1 and I weigh 185 lbs. I'm a 40 yr old female, and I'm so tired of being fat! I don't have a problem with food. I can take any food or leave it. I don't eat chips, cakes, cookies, etc. My problem is the soda pop and the 170 calories and 46 g of carbs for every can I drink. I have to find something to replace this caffeine addiction. Water would be nice, but I can't stand plain old water. I'm trying Crystal lite, and hoping that changing to it and exercising will drop the pounds.

Anyhow, that's me, and I hope to make some friends here and share in your weight loss. :)

Hiya and welcome! Stopping the soda drinking is definatley not easy at first, I got headaches for a week. But then i started trying 1 diet coke a day and next thing you know i haven't had a soda in ages! Personally I love water, i just wish it filled me up more, Crystal light and those drinks tend to taste worse then plain water to me. But you have to do and find what works best for you. :=)

Hi ToBeThinAgain. Hope you are not going to be a loser this time. PLEASE don't think that way, even in jest, because I think it communicates itself to your subconcious.

Just a couple of ideas about the soda/caffine thing - couldn't you convert to club soda instead of the flavoured kind? I used to drink a lot of lager, but found that if I had some really fizzy club soda, the craving for the lager would go. It was the fizz I was after.

For the caffine addiction, have you thought of green tea? It does have plentry of caffine in it, but I've heard a lot of health gurus sing its praise as an effective anti-oxidant, so it's 'green flagged' as being OK.

Just another thought - this sounds revolting, but maybe you could carbonate cold green tea in a Sodastream and drink it when you need to get a 'fix'.

I know what you mean about soda!
But after an incident of me just having too much caffeine in my system when I was trying to go to bed one night (it was actually pretty frightening)....
I gave up caffeine cept on rare occasions I'm out eating and get Ice Tea.

I now drink Caffeine Free Diet Sam's Cola.
I gave up named brand drinks b/c they just have WAY too much sodium in them while the walmart brand only has 5mg plus I think it just tastes better.

As a former regular coke drinker, drinking diet is something you'll have to get used to b/c of the taste, but trust me.. knowing that you're not drinking down a ton of sugar and calories per can anymore will be worth it.
