New and Need a Little Help From My Friends

Hi Everyone~

I'm 36 years old and in desparate need of a change. I recently saw my doctor and he dropped the bomb that "your weight is imparing your health". I was devastated. I've been struggling with weight-loss for 10 years now, and been through Weight Watchers 3 times, along with other Weight-loss gimmicks and diets. As a former athlete, I felt I knew what to do, how to eat, and how to excercise. But then life took over. The excuses began. The negotiating with myself that I can have that treat now, and I'll excercise tomorrow (which by the way, NEVER happened). I gotta tell you, I must have been one hell of a salesperson because I bought that line of crap every time. This time I feel like its going to be different. I'm eating really well, but I lack the motivation to excercise. What's the deal? I'M GREAT AT GIVING MOTIVATION TO OTHERS BY THE WAY, (just not myself). So here I am, looking to surround myself with others with one common goal. I'm looking forward to being here.

I fit in my workout! I'm excited! Here are my two goals that I'm focusing on....Eat Right and Move. That's it! I tend to make things too entirely difficult, so when I saw these two goals, i thought no way, that's way to easy. Well it is easy...if you DO it. The thing I'm finding out about myself in this process it, do things that you can easily fit into your lifestyle. My goal is to change my lifestyle to support a healthier me. At first I thought, wow, my WHOLE life is going to change. Yes, maybe, over time it will. But not today. I'm working on baby steps. So, Eat Right and Move. The eating right is something I can do, its the moving that I need help on. I found some great books, magazines, and websites that have 15 minute workouts. I was stoked. I can do 15 mins. I've been walking 15 mins, but find myself wanting to walk more. Right now i'm not allowing myself that luxury. By doing this, it makes me look forward to my next walk the next day. Today is Day 2 for me, and I'm excited! Good Luck to you all, and let me know , What Motivates You?

"What would you do if you weren't afraid?"

welcome!! keep up the great work and post your progress everyday. it will make you feel soooo much better!!

Thanks everyone! My focus this week is to get fit when I can fit it in! If I can do 15 mins of activity, well than that's a start. Yesterday i went for a quick 15 minute work during my lunch hour. Tonight I'm meeting an old school chum that I haven't seen in a while. We are going to meet at a local shopping center and walk the perimitter a couple of times. That should put me at a 30 minute activity for sure. I'm stoked, im finding out its easier to fit in small 15 minute workouts here and there, rather than one big one. Plus i love the variety! Well off to walk, hope you all had a great workout, and a great day of eating right! We can do this together!

"don't think about, BE about it"

I had such a great time tonight walking! My friend and I met up at an local outdoor mall and walked and talked. Before you know it we had walked a whole hour! We walked, window shopped, and caught up. We've agreed to find time at least once a week to be active. What are some other fun activities we can do?

So how is the weight loss coming? What are your goals? If you have the time, you should definitely consider a diary.

That's great MonMcB! It's amazing how quickly an exercise session can go by when you've got a workout buddy!
