Hello! I am new here, and just wanted to introduce myself!
I'm 26 years old, and I am just starting my weight loss journey; this is my first time dieting in my whole life, so I am a bit nervous. I started my diet this past Wednesay!
I have always been on the heavier/chubby side as a teen and adult. I was thin as a child, but gained weight in high school once I started going through puberty. However, after some trauma I went through in the last year, I've really put on more and more weight. I also used to work in an active environment, but now I am sedentary/non-active. I'd be surprised if I took more tan 200 steps in one day at this point - it's sad, I know. To top everything off, I even have a very bad sleeping pattern that I am trying to improve with diet, exercise, and keeping myself busy.
Current Stats:
Weight: 178.8
Height: 5'4.5
Waist: 33
Hip: 44
Bust: 44
Goal: 140lbs, 25% body fat
My ultimate goal is to just be at a healthy weight and body fat %; I am not looking to be very slim or in athletic shape!
I am trying out the keto diet right now, just trying to keep my carbs relatively low and eating lots of fat plus a moderate amount of protein. It's hard because my diet used to be extremely carb heavy; bread, tortillas, tacos, etc. Even harder is a lot of the food I think is healthy, and that I like or enjoy (beans, rice, fruits, some veggies) are still high in carbs, so I have to watch that. So far, my macros are around 9% carbs, 60% fat, and 40% protein. I am eating a lot of eggs, tuna, nuts, spinach, bacon, turkey, and low carb fruit like watermelon, cherries, lemons. I also eat pickles sometimes despite their lack of nutritional value and high sodium. I am extremely picky, so the hardest thing for me is finding healthy food items that are low in carb that I also manage to enjoy to some extent without wanting to vomit (plus I don't have a lot of money, so buying healthy items and saving money has also been tough so far. I spent $60 on my last grocery trip but did not buy everything I needed!). My keto goals are 10% carb, 30% protein and 60% fat. I'm hoping this diet will work for me, but not sure because I do have most of my weight centered around my belly/lower belly, my hips, thighs, and my arms. My body holds onto the fat which I think has been worsened by stress, hormones, and genetics. I believe I may also have PCOS or lower estrogen/higher testosterone levels because of the way my body likes to store fats. Any advice on the dieting is of course helpful, which is why I am here! I know a doctor is best for this, but I'm unsinsured and unfortunately can't afford the visit, so I'm figuring I'm just going to have to just try and see what happens. I figure if I am at least eating better (which I definitely am), I should lose some weight.
In any case, I'm so happy and excited to be part of the community and cant' wait to share my journey and read other's!
