Never had a fitness routine of any sort but would like to start...

Hello,

I'm a 21 year old female who is horrendously unfit for her age. I was never into being active, even as a child I would be sitting inside witha book instead of being outside playing. I don't drink, have recently quit smoking (gone from 16 a day to nothing over the past 2 weeks) and my diet is reasonably healthy with the exception of probably far too much caffeine. Here are my stats:

21 years old
female
5'1
119 lbs
Bodyfat - unknown

I am not too bothered about losing a certain amount of weight but would like to improve my general fitness, I can't even walk up a flight of stairs at the moment without being out of breath. I just have genuinely no idea where to start, what type of excercise I should be looking at, how far I should be trying to push myself etc.

Absolutely any input would be greatly appreciated,
