Never Any Big People

I was looking at a magazine and that made me think why there are no magazines that always have photographs of proud big women or men. They always show fit people with abs or talk about how celebrities have a secret diet or workout to get thin.

Their magazines sell better that way. And whenever someone tells you about the newest "secret diet" or "magic food items that can burn away your fat", you can bet on the fact that someone wants to sell you some mumbo jumbo weight loss recipe that's never gonna work in the long term. There are a lot of scumbags in the fitness industry who prey on desperate but ignorant people.

Maybe because in our society being fat is being not good-looking, and nobody is gonna convince the people of the contrary despites the ' good looking big woman ' community or such things.
We live by the society, as long as the society will work that way, it's up to us to fit into it.
The only thing that I'm not alright with is people thinking that being fat is bad because it makes you ugly, being fat is bad because it's unhealthy and shall it be considered.

Most magazine photos are photoshopped anyway so you never see the real photo. And yep, this sells more.
I heard a while back that in the UK they wanted to make a law that any photos in magazines that are photoshopped must be clearly marked that it was photoshopped. Not sure if that ever happened but I like the idea and think it should be done.

I'm so with Benny, I also think there is to much emphasis on fat = ugly where it should be fat = unhealthy.

I think that part of the reason is that if you show big people that is just showing reality. Whereas if you show slim attractive people then that is aspirational - something to strive for. It's a bot like in the movies when they show Hollywood fantasy that sells much better than a low budget film about the life of a poor man. This is also why people want Porsche rather than Kia!!
