needing some reassurance...

hey everyone,

i just wanted to hear from all of you on where/when you started your fitness journey... it seems like everyone i talk to has always been in some sort of exercise regime, either through school sports, or whatever... i've NEVER been active... i've never really had to be active..lol... i've been around 130 my whole life... but i want to start toning up...

so anyway, i'd just like to hear from anyone who's willing what your story is... are there people out there like me who have never exercised?? i'm feeling a little defeated because there's SO much to learn... i just need some motivational stories... like i always see pictures of fitness models and i wonder if they were ever in the same place that i am now... or were they always athletic?....

I played a bunch of sports in high school and college and then went thru my 20s and 30s having my only means of exercise be golf every other month and walking as a means of transportation - not for exercise.

Best advice I can offer you - start somewhere.. if you've never walked before - start walking -- and slowly add on to your time.

If you're joining a gym -which can be overwhelming - as much as I rant against them at times - a personal trainer for a session or two to show you the ropes isn't a bad investment - just to give you some education.

there are a bunch of books on the topic of beginners fitness and from what I've seen - most of them suck... and dont explain things well enough... getting the education you want and need to do sstuff correctly and effectively is definitely an uphill battle...
 
thanks!! i am trying to get more informed and i've gotten a personal trainer, but i guess i just want to hear some "real people" stories who have gone through what i'm going through now...
