Need to lose around 25 lbs

Im currently sitting at a weight of 183 lbs. I want to get down to around 160 lbs as soon as possible with some help in modifying my diet. I guess the big problem i have, is i just dont understand weight loss. The only aspect i understand is that you lose fat by burning more calories then you take in, but what makes the difference between low calorie diets and low fat diets?

All weightloss is is manipulating your metabolism and burning more calories than consuming.

A low-calorie diet will help one lose weight, so long as it isn't too low and is well-balanced. I think a low-calorie and low-fat diet go hand-in-hand.

Do you belong to a gym? Do you currently do any exercise? Why don't you post what your typical diet is?

Welcome to the forums, Alex. Read my post at the bottom of this thread for an idea of how your body's energy systems burn fat during long-term exercise:

Kilocalories (more commonly just called "Calories") are a measure of how much energy is produced when you break down a nutrient. The amount of calories a nutrient produces is based on the classification of that nutrient:

1 gram of fat = 9 Kcal
1 gram of carbs = 4 Kcal
1 gram of protein = 4 Kcal
1 gram of alcohol = 7 - 14 Kcal (this isn't technically a nutrient because it has the opposite effect of a nutrient, but breaking it down does produce energy)

So, since fat produces the highest amount of calories, a low-fat diet often equates to a low-calorie diet.

Diet

I believe the main problem to my physical health is due to poor eating habbits... about 2 years ago ALL i did was sit around, watch tv, and eat fatty high calorie foods... i was up to the weight of 225. This past year i massively changed my eating habbits (aka not drinking SODA or eating fast food as much) , and have become more active... simply by just not sitting around all the time...so now i sit at 183.

I am not the typical person that thinks i can find a way to lose weight overnight... i understand that you have to work for it.

As far as my currenty diet is... I can personally say i have greatly changed the way i eat... my only problem now is just burning fat.

The only diet problem i have is resorting to fast food for dinner when the family doesnt cook..

I guess all i want to know is this:

1.) What foods are healthy and FILLING
2.) Additional Tips To Fast Weight Loss

1: brown rice, sweet and white potatoes, oatmeal, fruits & veggies, chicken, salmon, tuna, lean beef (top round steak, 92% lean ground), turkey, cottage cheese, skim milk, egg whites, olive & canola oils, nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds), natural PB,.......

2: weight training, eating 5-7 meals per day with a serving of protein with each, not resorting to fast food - NO EXCUSES, cardio exercise

get the word fast out of your vocabulary. LOL

no fast food, no fast results. make goals for each and every day as to meals, exercise even reading something about training. meet your goals short term goals and you will reach your long term goals
