I am trying once again to lose weight. I never had a weight problem until after I hit thirty and it has gone up every since. I had a baby at 35 and only gained 18 pounds but I was in the house so much that I started eating the usual junk food. (I've always eaten a lot of junk food) I know I need to lose weight for my health but I have a hard time staying motivated. I also do not want any diet that does not let me eat. I need some great diet ideas. Please help!

Hi! I have one thing to say. First you have to stop thinking in "diet" terms. You have to make changes in your life that you can live with for a life time. Don't get sucked into any diets that say don't have any of this or that. You need to set up a healthy balanced meal plan that stays in the proper calorie level for your body. Increase your activity. Do these things and the pounds will come off. To plan your calorie intake and how to focus on the right amounts of carbs/proteins/fats I suggest visiting FitDay.com It's really helped me alot. Also, hang out here instead of going to the fridge! The support from these people will make all the difference in the world!

Limiting total calories works well for me. That way you don't have to give up things completely, and can even have "junk", just in smaller amounts. Figure out how many calories your body burns throughout the day,(use basal metabolic rate calculater, plus add all the activities you do during the day), then substract 500 calories, you get number of calories you should eat to loose 1 lb of fat per week. If that number is below 1200, I would increase level of activity you do per day. I think eating below 1200 calories/day slows down your metabolism and you will not get enough nutrients from food.

All the best!
