need some help

hi ive only just started training and i do a full body workout on monday, wednessday and friday, and tuesday and thursday do cardio..... would it be better or ok to work out every day during the week with cardio in the morning ?? im taking in about 150 to 200 gs of protein daily but not sure if 24 hours is still a decent amount of time for recovery, as i herd u have to leave each muscle group for 48 hours between training them other wise itd be doing no good?? idealy id like to workout every day, any advise..? all coments apprieciated thanks. jak :newbie:

My advice would be go for it,just listen to your body

My advice would be not to workout every day, especially not when you do a full body workout. This would be because if you do a full body workout, properly, all your muscles will be sore at once, and on the side note its also bad to workout a sore muscle. What you should do in my opinion is workout every second day, chest triceps shoulders, biceps back, legs and rotate, with cardio in between... this will give your muscles plenty of rest, and especially because you're taking protein they need time to heal up, and you also wont have to wake up with a fully sore body, or have to wait for all your muscles to heal and avoid physical activity. But in the end it all depends what you feel most comfortable doing :), this was just my opinion and how i learned to view things over the years I've been working out.

What is your goal? I am assuming to lose weight but do you care if you lose some muscle along with it?

If you do decide to workout everyday then do an upper/lower split so at least you muscles will get a bit of rest.

Working your muscles hard everyday is not advisable. Your muscles grow when you are resting, not at the gym.

Hi guys i'm 18 years old (nearly 19). I am 180cm's tall and i weigh 75kg. I play aussie rules footy and the season starts on the 4th April (10 weeks). I found this useful website called exercise prescription on the net, where you can make your own weight training programs. Below is the program that i came up with and i was wondering how many set and reps for each exercise should i do in order to get bigger and stronger body. I'm gonna be able to commit to this program 2-3 times a week.

Safety Squats- Barbell
Seated Leg Curl
Seated Calf Raises
Barbell Bent-over Row
Dead Lifts
Assisted Chins
Dumbbell Fly’s
Dumbbell Bench Press
Dumbbell Shoulder Press
Barbell Bicep Curl
Tricep Dip Machine

Upper/lower splits do allow you more gym time but I'd still add in a rest day every other day so maybe a M,T,T,F schedule.

Haha here`s me telling you to go for it (knobhead), i thought you were just refering to cardio.

That`ll teach me to read posts properly:D

Upper/Lower splits are good, but Push/Pull splits are better IMO. I tend to have more upper body exercises than lower, so a push/pull routine is more evened out.

It my experience if your working a specific body part pretty hard, then you need 48 hours of rest before you attack it again. If your not completely exhausting your body parts during your full body workout then you may be ok on only 24 hours.
