Hey

I'm a 19 year old university student who just hit over the big 200 and I don't even know how it happened. Before I moved away for school I was a competitive dancer but was never skinny my smallest weight was 140 when i was 15 and my average was 160 until I left high school. I've dabbled in a lot of really unhealthy diets and nothing has worked for me. I really just need some advice in what I should be doing and a supportive environment. My whole family is bigger so they don't see why me going over 200 upsets me but I never want to be as large as they are so I'm fighting it for all its worth. If you have any helpful words It would really help my situation,

Hey there, Moira :)

My entire family is also overweight, and it really does make a difference in trying to lose weight and get healthy. When I first started trying to lose weight my entire family started calling me anorexic... how supportive, right?
This community seems like a great place to start learning how to make some changes.

Without knowing your specifics, the one thing I can suggest is walking. When I first started trying to lose weight, walking was my saving grace (along with a reduced calorie diet).

Welcome from a fellow new member :)

Hey!

Welcome :)

Hopefully we can help you! :) I know what you're going through, and I understand how school can change your weight! It's hard to adapt a healthy lifestyle when you're schooling takes over your life!

But you can do it! it is possible!

you might want to check out creating a diary! i have found that's extremely helpful in keeping me accountable for my diet and exercise!!

good luck! and we're here to help you :)

I understand how you feel! Just start making little changes, they do add up! If you go drastic, you'll be setting yourself up for failure. remmber, slow and steady wins the race! Does your university have a gym??

Hey Moira, welcome to the forum!

That's really unfortunate that you're family isn't supportive right now. I think you'll find a lot of support on here though! Look around at some of the clubs and challenges, then keep checking in... you'll have your own little cheering section in no time! Starting a diary can also be a great tool, because others check in to give you encouragement and advice.

Good luck, can't wait to hear how things go :)

you can do it!

hey moira,

i feel like we are in the same situation!! maybe we can work together to support each other through this :)
