Hi all, i wondered if anyone could give me some help creating a training program for a potential client of mine..
female, 36 y o. 2 young kids, fitness levels not great but not bad, she exercises a couple times a week. she wishes to complete a sprint triathlon in september 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run. She has and can complete each part of the event in its own right (just to give you an idea of her fitness levels)
allong the way she would like to reduce her body fat, improve her fitness and some general full body toning.
so heres the catch, 6 weeks ago she dislocated her knee (patella) while walking along a wet poolside. the knee came out and 'popped' back in so she has had no surgery or real treatment other than now receiving physiotherapy.. the physio and consultant has advised her not to run (obviously!), but she is 100% determined to complete the triathlon in sept. i have some notes from the consultant that advise her that swimming and cycling are fine, but impact and anything involving a twisting motion is obviously a no no. The physiotherapists notes indicate she needs to strengthen her quads, glutes and core and that the potential cause for the dislocation was that her knee caps are turned out due to a shortening or tightening of the outer thigh (vastus latteralis) and therefore some quad strengthening exercises particularly inner thigh (medialis) to correct the imbalance and strengthen the joint.
so the program would need to include resistance training, cardio and strenghening exercises for the core, glutes and vastus med, inner thigh.
thanks all in advance!
