Need some Advices.

I got a cold 3 days ago. Today I feel fine except I am still having sore throat. I am really dedicated to my workout. I usually work out 5 days a week. This week I have missed 3 days, and I am feeling really weak now. Should I hit the gym today or wait a few days more till I am fully recovered. I am not sure workout would help me recover faster or would have adverse effect.

i would have worked out with the cold. id ride my bike out in the cold morning even if i had a cold. but thats just me. except for when ive been really really sick, and my body is like, achey. then i take exception, and lay in bed.

Do what you feel like. If your body is to sick to workout, it WILL tell you. That weak feeling might be in your mind. A sore throat is certainly no reason to skip out. Like I said, let your body do the talkin'. If it doesn't want to workout, it will inform you.

If its just a cold, I'd go in and do a light intensity workout - higher reps, less weight, more sets. good shock to the system, and you won't injure yourself if you are still weak.

If it was the flu, I'd definitely just take it easy. The last thing you need to do is exert yourself when the immune system is comprimised.

if you have any fever at all, even a low grade fever, id stay behind. i remember one time when i was feeling kind of crappy and suspected i had a fever. i took my temperature, and it was around 99.5F. I assumed that it was nothing but normal variation in body temperature and went to work out. i felt ok during the workout, but about 30 minutes afterwards, i felt absolutely incapacitated. my fever had risen to above 103F. I was vomiting and felt alomst delerious. i learned that you dont mess with a fever.

if its just a mild sore throat, the main concern might be spreading the infection.

I've worked with trainers who would work through sickinesses. And I mean "work through" as in, they would workout to kill the sicknesses.

For bacterial diseases, raising your body temperature is a good way to kill the bacteria off. That is why you get fevers in many cases -- as a defense mechanism of your body's.

the sauna always made me feel better when i had a sore throat & stuff like that... anyways funny story! i had just gotten over food poisoning (wel i thought i was over it) and i went to the gym for my first workout since getting sick. i tryed to do my normal push workout, and on the second set i was over by the garbage can hurling in the gym.. its funny looking back, but it sure did suck then

If you're toxic (as in food poisoning) you can get VERY sick working out, since doing so tends to flush the toxins into your stomach and other organs to be removed from your muscles, etc.

My brother, right before he decided to get fit, had spent years eating terrible, greasy, processed food. For several months, just getting the toxins from THAT out of his system made him puke each time he had a half-decent workout.
