Need some advice

Hello everyone,

I'm 18, 5'10" and around 200lbs, In the last year and a half I've gained 40-50lbs and hardly grown much taller. This reason for this gain was that I quit wrestling, which was the majority of my exercise and also my reason for maintaining a strict diet. I'm tired of being overweight now though and want to drop down to my original 150-160 lbs and maybe more. I don't look bad for my weight, and have decent cardio and strength I just have difficulty shedding weight.
I'm currently doing 30 minutes on an eliptical with a difficulty range of 10, I train between 4-6 for 30minutes a day, and after the first 10, 19, and 27 minutes i stop and do 2 minutes of arm training followed by 10minutes more at the end. I'm currently averaging a 10mile minute.
By the end of this workout I'm usually sweating profusely and feeling pretty exhausted. I've been doing this for about a week and a half now and haven't noticed any weight loss, just more defined calve muscles.
What can I do to improve my weight loss?

Thanks in advance,

D. Matheson

Fat loss is a long term endeavour, it will not happen overnight and 1.5 weeks is a short time period.

the scales are not the best way to measure fat loss, ways to measure progress include taking measurements e.g. chest, waist, bicep, thigh, calf. measure bodyfat percentage (there are several methods, I prefer callipers but bioelectric impedance is common now in the form of bodyfat scales). appearance is also a good guide, taking photo's to compare progress. To get more defined calves then there would have likely been fat loss from that area.

fat loss does not always = weight loss.
