Need some advice, training vs injury

I am a 23 year old, 6ft and weigh about 85kg. I also play football (soccer) but recently i had a cruciate ligament torn off and a tor in the cartiladge in my knee. it's been about 2 months since the injury and i have stopped football, and all other training because i cant straighin my leg, so i will have an operation in about a year. My problem is that i cant do any cardio training and have gained a little weight since the injury. I want help regarding training. 3 Days ago i have started some abs and arms/chest training.

Abs :

Arms/Chest : 2 dumbells with 10kg each and doing about 20min on weights alone.

Another problem i have is that i have bench for my abs but it hurts because the part where it can bend is pressure on the bench. When doing that abs video i posted i don't hurt.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what i can do more, apart from diet which i have just started.

Sorry for my bad english :)

Mamu I had an ACL reconstruction 10 months ago. Prior to the op I focused on strength training especially to build up the quads and hamstrings. I found the leg press to be a great exercise. It's really important to keep your legs strong before the op as leg strength prior to the op is correlated to recovery. Good luck.

Thanks :) the problem is that i don't go to gyms, i do it at home. But what i really wanted to know was upper body training's, for the leg i will be seeing my surgeon next Friday and he will tell me to strengthen it cause my friend had the exact problem, probably i will strengthen it with lifting ankle weights. Thanks for the info though, that's very helpful. So working hard on the leg muscle is important before as it is after the operation.

if i were you i would go and see a physio. 2 things always keep in mind

1) the worst injuries are when you injury yourself alone

2) always check with the physio. many times small injuries results in worse consequences in the future
