Hi, so basically I'm looking to lose fat and gain muscle. Some info about myself, I'm 18 yo, male, 180cm tall (6feet?), 73kg. Whilst this puts me in the healthy BMI range, my body mainly consists of fat, when i weighed myself and got my body fat percentage it was at around 19%. I have excess fat just about everywhere on my body.
The areas I want to target the most are my hips and butt. Ive got quite a bit of hip fat from wearing pants too low when i was younger. I know that to lose weight I need to eat less calories, this is very difficult for me because I still live with my parents, and my mum cooks the meals so I don't know how many calories are in each meal nor can I control what she cooks. Also I'm a uni student so my day is varied. I also have a big tub of some protein supplement, I was wondering if it was neccessary for me to take some if I want to lose fat and gain muscle.
My current daily workout is:
30 minute jog
2 x 10 squats with 10kg weights in each hand
2 x 10 crunches
3 x 10 bicep curls (10kg weights, i know thats not enough but weights are expensive)
2 x 10 pushups
2 x 10 tricep exercise? with 28kg resistance band (I stand on the band in the middle and pull the band up behind my head till my arms are extended)
2 x 10 dumb bell flye 5kg weights
depending on how tired I am, I can sometimes fit more in, or take a few away.
I would like to get some more weights, but this is pretty impossible at the moment (poor uni student). I have the ifitness app for iphone and I was doing crunches the way it described (lie flat with knees bent, with hands on side of head, lift your upper back up, hold, then back down but dont let head touch the ground), whilst this was quite effective at the start I cant feel the strain on the abs anymore, and any new exercises I do I seem to get used to them really fast. I also seem to feel the strain around my neck instead of my abs now.
I've been on a detox diet before and all that seemed to do was burn my muscles even though I was exercising. From what I can see, I've got a (skinny) frame, with lots of fat around it.
If you took the time to read all that thanks! I would like some suggestions about my routine and the stuff above.
