Need help with dieting

I really need help with finding a diet right for me. Currently I think I eat way tooooooo much. Yesterday I consumed about 3,000 calories, and then today for breakfast I had two bowls of cereal. I can't seem to not eat. Its only in the morning and nighttime that I really eat. I exercise 4-6 days a week, doing 40 to 60 minutes of cardio on various machines and weight training 2 to 3 days a week. My body stats currently are 5'8, 141lbs. I have alot of fat around my hips and buttock, oh and thighs and I would like to lose it but this eating thing is out of control. I take daily vitamins and chromium picolinate for a supplement. I definitly need something to help me not want to eat. I love junk food and can't control myself. Someone please give me some advice :(

5'8 + 141 lbs isnt bad.

what you could do, is instead of eating junk food alot, substitute the junk food with fruit/ vegtables... Youll still eat the same ammount, but at least it will be healthier and better for you..

take up a hobby, i find that doing something keeps your mind off food.. so whenever your bodys pulling you closer to the fridge, go do some things with your garden, go read, do a crossword puzzle, whatever!

Also, keep a water bottle with you at all times. sometimes when we think we are hungry, all we need is to have some water and we're good. or at least, i find that happens with me alot.

Hope i helped somehow :) goodluck!

you know... i can really relate to your problem! after some research (asked around at the college of nutrition in my school), what they told me is instead of eating alot, drinking a glass of water before a meal, eating alot of fruits (or fresh fruit juice), and eating complex carbohydrates like oatmeal, wheat bread, brown rice, etc. instead of simple carbohydrates like white rice and white bread. It took me time to adjust but i developed a taste to these sort of foods and lookig back, i can't believe i even liked a mc donald's quarter pounder! i hope these tips helps! good luck!

141 and can eat 3000 calories a day? Im jealous! I want your metabolism hehe. Seriously, just cut 500 a day. Your already solid on your fitness routine, that extra 500 calorie a day deficit can go far.

See, its in the morning when I pick at food when I just get up, and then at night time is another time when I pick at food. I don't pick during the day, and infact I hardly eat anything during the day. I might have a little something here and there, but no huge meals or anything. I go over board when I go to my friends house because they say I could use to gain a little weight and they throw candy and cupcakes in my face and I am no control. It's horrible and it makes me depressed. I don't exactly have the best body image either. I think I am a cow. I measure 35-28-36... and I think I am gross pretty much. I need to change my attitude alot. I used to weigh 190... AHHHH!

Girl, if I had your measurements I'd think I died and went to heaven. I am currently 5'5" with measurements of 40-33-37. And I weigh 155. Good job on losing weight (50 lbs!?!?) That's an incredible achievement! However, don't let yourself become too obsessed with losing "just 5 more pounds!" because that's how eating disorders start. Try and think more positively about yourself and don't make yourself feel 'guilty' if you slip up on a cupcake every now and then. It sounds like you have a wonderful workout regimine, stick to that. Like aevans410 said, just cutting 500 cals a day will make a big difference. I pretty much considered myself an obsessive eater for the last couple of years. If I was happy- I ate. If I was sad- I ate. If I was stressed, tired, full of energy, nervous, bored or busy I would eat! And usually it was high fat foods from the freezer or the fast food joint. Blech. I've only been "dieting" for 3 weeks and I can't believe the incredible difference in my taste and appetite! It'll be tough the first week or so, but if you make it past that, you'll be great because you won't crave those nasty foods as much! Try eating high fiber snacks or fruit to keep you going between meals. Also try eating a few small healthy meals instead of 3 big ones in a day. It'll keep your metabolism going and you'll actually lose weight by "eating more"! If you skip meals your body will think it's in danger and go in "starvation mode" and slow your metabolism down to a stop.
If you really think you need to lose weight then just try cutting some calories and keep excersizing. If you just want to be healthy (live longer, have a healthy heart, etc) then try really hard for a week to not have any junk food then see how easy it gets after that. Treat yourself every now and then so you don't go crazy. : )
(Non food treats work well too! Massage? Shopping? You bet!)
Good luck!
