Need help with a plan

I want to develop a fitness plan for myself.

I want to get rid of some fat (my stomach is a little large), I'm 32 yo male, 5' 10", 210lbs

I want to lose this gut and get into lifting.

I currently run about 2-5 miles per day (slowly). I weigh so much because I eat a lot.

I want to come up with a workout schedule that includes running and now some weight lifting.

My goal is not to be really big and muscular, just toned. I just want to look good shirtless at the beach. I don't want to be a body builder.

Any suggestions of good workout plans or where I can go to get a good work out schedule?

Thanks

I am With You

Hey,

This sounds a lot like myself. Don't worry what you are looking like with your shirt off though, thats all self confidence. I am looking for the same type of plan, between the two of us, we could work together at creating our own little plans and toss ideas to eachother. I also run about the same distance, maybe twice a week, and also hit the free weights with some sit ups and push ups a couple days a week if I am lucky too. My problem may also consist of eating the wrong things, or just plain too much of certain things. I started taking a multivitamin daily and quit all the soda crap. I try to cut the sweets too. Lets bounce our ideas around and get something solid so we can start a little workout plan.

I've been doing some research lately about buying some weight lifting equipment. I was trying to decide between free weights or a machine. Safety was my concern. I don't really want to drop a bench press on myself. But I think now I may go with a power rack with free weights. Seems like the power rack will give you all of the safety that you need (based upon my research)

The power rack is the way to go imo. Much more versatile. Just make sure you take the time to learn how to use it effectively.

I also found a place to get some good workout plans. I may just join this site (fitness.com). There are also others. You could join for about $10 per month an they will give you a workout plan. It asks you questions about what kind of equipment you have, your goals and everything else. It then creates a workout just for you.

My thoughts are to join, get my workout plan, and then cancel the membership. Why do I need it after that? So I can get a nice plan specially tailored to me for about $10.
