need help picking new elliptical

hello,

i am a new member to the fitness forums. i need help picking a new elliptical machine for my home. I have been looking at the two following and havent decided on what to go with.

1. life fitness x1 or x3
2. smooth fitness 3.2

main concerns for me are:
1. reliability
2. warranty
3. reliability

Please let me know if there are any other suggestions for others out there. i have heard a lot of bad things about the norditrack and other major brands like that

my price range is anywhere from $1000->$2000 USD

Thank you very much for any suggestions or opinions that are thrown out :)

I'd tend to ask a gym about their experience. Their usage is likely heavier and they're not going to recommend a turkey. Despite the likely higher cost, you might be able to buy one that is gently used. Lots of people buy this kind of stuff and it just sits until they list it on Craigslist or similar.

Too bad you don't live in the UK, I'm selling my Kettler Elliptical Cross Trainer since I'm moving back to San Francisco this summer!

Of the two items I would choose the Lifefitness.
If you're buying new, and it's for your home, I would ask the manufacturer about their warranty for a commercial unit in a residential setting. Some manufacturers (such as Precor) will offer what basically amounts to a lifetime warranty... IF it's a commercial unit in a home.

i know one person who sells bikes at cheap rates..i bought 2 bikes before...Phone no - 585-815-1290 and i guess the persons name is Steve Rogers.

Our gym has the LifeFitness elliptical trainers and just got some new Precor ones. The LifeFitness ones seem almost bulletproof and the Precor ones, although a little awkward at first if you're used to the LifeFitness stride, seem like they are of equal quality.

I say if you have the money, spring for one of the brands used by commercial gyms.

When I strike it rich and have a full gym in my house, I plan on having the LifeFitness treadmill, elliptical, and recumbent bikes all with the TV attached so I can watch Family Guy while I work! :D
