I have been reading ALOT of stuff on how many calories I should be consuming. I have decided that I was just going to consume or attempt to consume 2000 a day. I feel like that is not enough for me. Is there anyone who can tell me how many calories I should be consuming. I'm 19 years old 5'6" tall, I weigh 265 lb's. I go to school during the day then I work 5 times a week on my feet for about 4 hours a day moving/sweating. How many calories should I be eating. Then say I add in exercise and burn 500 calories per work out. Do I just add 500 calories back? How does it work.

I also have been eating healthy. I have dropped 15 lbs without much exercise do to my car situation and I will have one soon to start getting back to the gym. I find it hard to eat 2000 or more calories a day.
This has been my main food schedule

2 whole eggs. 2 egg whites scrambled spinich/onion added in. approximately 170 cal
1 whole wheat English muffin with natural peanut butter around 150 cal
8 oz of skim milk 80 cal

Lunch
2 peices of whole wheat bread. 40 cal. each so 80 cal
Tuna with Tijon honey mustard/garlic/onion around 80 cal
Some type of salad with dressing low fat ranch I use around 90 cal of that and 1 tbsp of olive oil 200 cal

Dinner
Usually just chicken with some random steamed veggies
I have no idea how much the dinner is in calories but not enough to get me to 2000

Snacks I usually have around 200 calories worth of mixed nuts

So that puts me a little under 1000 calories not counting dinner. And I know my dinner isn't 1000 calories. Any help on helping me get more calories into my diet would be great! Thanks for the help!

the eggs i use are 100 calories each, so if i made myself the same thing you just mentioned here, it would be about 400 calories.
1 whole wheat English muffin with natural peanut butter around 150 cal
my whole wheat english muffins are also 100 calories each, and my peanut butter is 95 calories per tbsp, so that would actually be around 195
8 oz of skim milk 80 cal
milk is good, especially skim.
Lunch
2 peices of whole wheat bread. 40 cal. each so 80 cal
my bread is whole wheat double protein at 110 calories per slice, so for me that would be 220 calories
Tuna with Tijon honey mustard/garlic/onion around 80 cal
tuna in water is about 100 calories per can, then i would add 1 tbsp olive-oil mayo for 23 calories, so about 123 cals
Some type of salad with dressing low fat ranch I use around 90 cal of that and 1 tbsp of olive oil 200 cal
1 tbsp of olive oil is about 120.

that's good, i'm going to assume you had 1 piece of breastmeat and 1/2 cup veggies, which would come out to 141 for the chicken and 38 for the veggies, so that's 179
I have no idea how much the dinner is in calories but not enough to get me to 2000

i effing love nuts ^^; i usually get salted nuts, 1/8 cup, for about 170

what you estimated: about 1200
what i estimated: 1407

you should be getting around 1800 calories a day if you want to lose weight. when you under-eat, your body enters starvation mode and clings onto every. single. calorie. not eating can actually make you fat, PLUS screw up your metabolism so that it's harder to lose weight.

i suggest eating a bit more per meal... for example:
breakfast: 2 mugs (4 cups) coffee with 1 tsp of sugar and 1 tbsp creamer between them is about 76 calories. add 2 slices toast for about 100 each with 100 cals worth of olive oil spread in place of butter, plus 1 scrambled egg for 100, and 1 slices of bacon for about 50. comes out to: 426
snack: 2 of some sort of fruit, here we'll estimate 150 for 2 oranges
lunch: 1 chicken breast with a 1/2 cup steamed veggies and 2 tbsp mashed potatoes (i like heavy lunches) would be about 439
snack: 1/4 cup salted nuts at around 340
dinner: 2 fish fillet about 144, 1/2 cup steamed brussel sprouts for 30, and 1/2 cup mac and cheese is 104.
dessert: 1 cup ice cream for about 260 calories
total for the day: 1839

as you can see, by increasing the quantity without eating completely unhealthily, we can get you in the right range of calorie consumption without torture :p if you have any questions feel free to ask ^^
