Need help battling anxiety among other things.

I'm really struggling with losing weight. I only lasted a few days before I started back on my old habits and I'm so frustrated.

Firstly, it must be said that I have a huge problem with depression/anxiety/insecurity and sometimes I sorta binge. I briefly think of purging but never have and never will but it's bad enough that I get a little hungry sometimes and BOOM. I'm eating something horribly unhealthy. Sometimes I even do it when I'm not hungry at all, I just eat and don't even think about it because I gotta keep moving, gotta do something, can't get what is bugging me off my mind. I just loop and it never 100% occurs to me what I'm doing at the time.

Secondly, the weather here has kinda sucked. During the day, it's really hot, we're talking like OMGWHEREDIDTHEOXYGENGO hot. Not just warm, it's like the heat is pressing in on you and you can't breathe. It's also been rainy so it's just horrible weather that I hate to have to go out in and I've been avoiding walking for days.

And thirdly, my least favorite part of my body is my stomach. How can I best target it? I don't mean that my goal is a six pack here, just...I want some of the fat off my stomach and I'm worried that walking won't burn any off of that particular area.

Any input would be appreciated. I hate dealing with the anxiety, now I'm panicked because I had a bowl of beefaroni which is just plain bad. :(

Unfortunately, you just can not target fat loss. When you lose weight, your body will burn fat from wherever it is designed to burn it. Usually, the problem areas are problem areas because those are areas your body likes to store fat most, and hardest to burn. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just means it takes time and committment.

While I don't want to discourage you from going out to walk - because walking is a great thing to do to get out and move around and feel good - I wouldn't depend on walking to burn fat. You still have to create a calorie defecit, and if you don't change your diet, you probably won't see the results you're looking for just by walking.
