Hi everyone, I posted this originally in "newcomers" but have realized it probably belongs here.

I'm a 23 year old female who is overweight, my entire family is overweight. I usually fluctuate with my weight between 230-255, but have not gone under 230 ever since I reached it. I was on a similar forum a few months ago and was doing great while I was on it, but then fell off.

For a while I ate nothing but a footlong from subway or a chipotle burrito bol (no sour cream/guac) a day. I was losing weight rapidly (also doing about 40 minutes of cardio/exercise a day), but kept reading about 'starvation mode'. And figured I should get my calories up, even though I was conflicted about doing so.

Eventually I just fell off and stopped watching what I ate. It took for me to start crying while watching myself on video tape and seeing a picture of myself from a gathering to realize how ultimately repulsed I am with my weight and looks. It contributes to my low self esteem, my social habits, my activities, and even my relationships with people.

It's hard being big.

I'm here to get back on the right track and here for support and to ask for advice on what has worked for some of you.

I really enjoyed the diet of Chipotle/subway once a day (usually very late at night). Is there such a thing as starvation mode? Also, I don't regularly eat meat. Which also very much effects my dieting, I do eat it personally, but my family members don't and they don't allow it in the house so it can get tricky sometimes.

My goal is to lose over 100 pounds. Of course I want to do it as quick as I can but I know that patience is key. What I need help with is how to consistently keep losing weight. What foods to eat? There's so many different diets I don't want to complicate things or confuse things. I'm trying to find something that works for me.

I look forward to creating bonds with individuals who have lost weight or are seeking to. Any advice or suggestions would be so appreciated. Nice to meet you all. :hurray:

@success

eating the same things day in day out (subway and burrito) isn't good for you health long term, try to mix it up a bit.

And I'm happy to be the first.

No two bodies are the same and what works for one person may not work for everyone.

It is a fact that what you did worked for you, it is your opinion that your method will work for others..... It's not a fact that it will work for everyone in the same way or at the same rate.

As for the diet.... Carb restricted diets aren't my cup of tea, but to each their own

Thanks Tourney!

I know what you mean about not eating the same thing. I'm going to try to switch it up. I have decided to get brown rice from chipotle instead of white. but I agree with you no carbs isn't my thing either. I can't do it.

That is the only way to lose wight and keep it off.

Incorrect.

You are enslaved to the foods you have brainwashed into eating

hmm. Disagree on that too. But thank you for telling me how I'm brainwashed.

How many people do you know who have lost 145 pounds and KEPT it off?

We have plenty of success stories here. Some doing the low carb, many more just regulating calories.

It works, it's a fact, it works.

the calorie reduction has worked for you. That is great. It is a fact it worked for you.

The following statements are FALSE!

1. The consumption of saturated fat increases ones risk for obesity, or causes one to become overweight.

2. The consumption of saturated fat and cholesterol containing food increases ones risk for heart disease.

3. Calories are relevant in human nutrition.

4. You need to exercise to lose weight.

5. The consumption of margarine is an effective treatment for heart disease.

6. All trans fats are bad.

1) Correct. Too many calories..fats, protein, carbs, veggies..whatever it is..will make you gain weight.

2) Hmm don't know about that one.

3) Correct. Calories is a unit of measurement, not of nutrition. There is a difference between a calorie in cake and a calorie in an apple.

4) Still true. You can reduce your calories vs what you need to live. We have many members who lost weight without one lick of exercise.

5) Don't know anyone that said that margarine is a treatment for anything.

6) Correct. ALL is a broad brush that makes most statements false cause there are exceptions.

The only carbs I get is from healthy vegetables. No sugars, no wheat or starches.

I do enjoy bread made with coconut and almond flour from time to time. If I want a hamburger or hot dog I use oopsie bread for the buns.

Very little carbs in those ingredients.

And when I want a hamburger, I use a regular bun. When I want potatoes (boiled, sauteed, baked, even roast) I could serve more than I could eat. Pasta, Rice, Potatoes, Bread.... Any "lifestyle" change that greatly restricts such staple foods will have just one result for me. Failure.

There are many ways to lose weight, the one that matters is whichever you can live with potentially the rest of your life.

Hmmm, guess I and every other person who have successfully lost weight with such a diet is just deluded then.... after all, your way is the only way.
