Need assistance with workout routine

Hello!

1. Goals/background: To lose my belly fat (I call dunlap because it has dunlapped over) and get in overall general shape by exercising and eating better. I have several workout dvds, weights, stability ball and yoga mat. I've never tried yoga but am very interested in it. I'd like to workout on the treadmill every other day and need help with what I'm suppose to do on the other days. Mon - Fri I can only work out during the evening hours. Sat & Sunday are more flexible.

2. Diet: my eating habits are awful. I'm a very picky eater. I bake my meats.

3. Level of fitness: very out of shape! Here's an example of how out of shape. Day 1 (this past Saturday) I was trying to do Jillian Michaels 5 minute warm up and couldn't make it through it. Day 2 (yesterday) I finally got on our Golds Gym 410 treadmill and attempted the preset work #5 which is 30 minutes. I did as the manual said adjusted the speed and incline as needed. I lasted 15 minutes and did .883 miles. But I slept like a baby once I went to bed!

4. Stats: 36, female, 5'5, 140 lbs, I don't know my body fat

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

What you have to do to lose your belly fat is develop quality muscle with a total body routine. Total body is chest, back, shoulders, legs, and core. More muscles help boost your metabolism which burns more calories and fat. Don't worry about becoming Xena the Warrior Princess.

Don't beat yourself up, schedule the body parts you are going to workout that week and pick 2-3 exercises for each body part and do 3 sets of 15 reps.

As for diet, continue eating what you are eating but add more vegetables in your meal. Your dinner plate should be 3/4 veggies and 1/4 meat. You can continue baking your meat if you want. Just small changes at first. Also try drinking a glass of cold water before you eat anything (it makes you feel fuller and burns some calories).

I hope this helps. Keep at it, don't worry if you cannot complete the workouts, just focus on doing as much as YOU can.

Remember, you didn't learn the English language in a day so learning fitness would be also the same. Stay positive and stay active :D
