Ha ha ha so I am working on improving my fitness and diet for the uptenth time and want to meet people who are of the like mind. My mini goal is 20lbs by February and would like to get down to 140 eventually... maybe even less:D I started this journey at 240lbs several years ago and have lost 50 but I would like to take some more off if I can... especially since I gained some back:( . I am starting at 200lbs.
I am maintaining a diet of 1500 - 2000 calories a day and trying to get workouts in with my busy schedule. That sounds fabulous and all but it is just my first week of sticking to my guns and though it has gone well (I actually don't feel like I am starving and I bought skim milk for the first time today!) I am looking to meet people to help keep me motivated. I am a divorced mom who works full time and like all of us find it hard to fit anything in the day for me!!
So wanna....;) chat! lol

Heya's Mishi,

here. I am around 193 so we are pretty close with simalr goal's
we can do it! Have a gr8 Monday,Tammy:)

Hi Mishi!

Congrats on purchasing the skim milk! Im taking skim milk too but I add in instant oatmeal for the fibre content. Don't worry bout working out, having the time to go to gym is a luxury so all you have to do is simple, just move around! It's actually not hard. I am becoming more and more tidy, I clean up the house, the work space, started on the gardening actually weeding hehe and I've already worked up a sweat! Cheers and stay strong! :D

Nice to meet you Tammy and wow!!! good job on the 63lbs!!! and your right we can do it! What kinds of things have you been doing to loose weight? I am working on my diet right now but looking for options to expand exercise options..
bigteacher- gardening?!!??? is it winter where you live;) lol it is so cold here I am feeling the hibernation bug.. just like a polar bear!! thank you for the support! interesting about the oatmeal. What do you flavor it with? I am usually just using my milk for my cereal... I am drinking soy milk (can you believe it!) when I get a craving to chug a glass of milk. It ain't so bad;) hope you all are having a good week as we approach the hump!!

Mmm.. Skim milk! I used to haate diet anything and anything less than 2% milk. Now I think it goes down a lot smoother. When I was losing my weight, it was tough because I was in the middle of working for one family business and getting another one open (a bakery, bad news). I found that when I would go to the gym to do a full workout with weights, it would take me at least an hour. I had worked out a lot while I was bigger but never lost any weight until I- well of course changed my eating, but I ran 3-5 nights a week for 10-20 minutes. I focussed on that rather than lifting weights because I felt it was more important for fat loss and I couldn't fit weights in my schedule at that time. It worked great and it took less than an hour out of my week.

It is something I have to remind myself that I don't need to be in the gym right now working for hours. When I first lost weight it was because I got up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and jogged around a park a few times... maybe 25 minutes max. It was so easy and 3 months later I was down 40 lbs! I was also anti-diet.... which strikes me funny because I am lamenting over being overweight and yet I am scorning the things that will help me to achieve what I want. A bit of a reality check I must say!! I am adding a bit of exercise next week... but I need to remind myself.. "not too much!" :) thanks jondoe

I am kind of anti-diet too.

It is a vicious cycle. I would say "I am not going to cheat today". . and then either I would feel deprived all day long or I would cheat which brought out on the feelings of guilt and worthlinesss.

The last two weeks I have been eating just about anything. I've had pizza, braised steak, fried stuff, and soda (just a little). The only difference is I have a LITTLE of those things and substitute the rest of the meal with low fat/fat free options.

I have been walking at least a mile every day on the treadmill. I've only lost
5 lbs but I am thrilled with it. Not once in the last two weeks have I felt bad about myself.

This is my approach. No more diets!!! Viva Chocolate!!!

Good luck and welcome to the boards. We are all here for support, advice, and encouragement!

hell yeah viva chocolate!!! totally agree. I had a bit of a frosty last night... just a bit of course;) and I honestly think losing weight slower is more successful in the long run!! yay to the non-dieters!!!:D lol it's a good morning:)
