Need a bit of help starting out

Hi guys, I'm overweight and been wanting to lose some weight for a while, but never got to it seriously.

I am 19, 5'7 and weigh 225 pounds. First thing i do in the morning is go for a 45 minute walk/jog at the park and then hit the showers. Breakfast was whatever I could find in the fridge, it'd be leftover chicken or pork chops and such. I am eating extremely bad, and I want to change this.

I read a bit of the nutrition stickied posts, but still kind of fuzzy on what i should be getting. I eat whatever my parents cook for dinner and stuff before, but now i want to control what i eat. I plan to go to the grocery store more often and buying what i need to make meals for myself. I know that there shoudl be a balance between carbs, fats, and protein, but what would an ideal breakfast look like? Should i be using protein shakes? Not exactly asking for a complete meal plan, but what would a basic day be with the calories spread out all 5-6 meals in a day? I have never counted calories before, so I guess i should be spending some time at the grocery store reading labels and planning it out.

I read around some more, and realized that i should be doing a bit of strength training as well. I have a treadmill, and a few dumbells. I wonder if all that is enough for me to lose some weight? I'm not exactly looking at weight lifting, just losing the belly. I appreciate any help i can get from you guys.

EDIT: I made two separate threads with more specific questions, so if any1 can close this thread it'd be great.
