Naughty foods!!!

Ok this may be a bad place to put this, but with all this healthy, lean eating, etc, does anyone still eat naughty foods? You know what I mean, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, sweets. I eat healthy but sometimes I have to allow myself a treat day where I can eat some naughty foods.
How often can people get away with having one day where they eat naughty foods? Like, once a week, once every 2 weeks, every 3 weeks, and so on...

That's a really good post...I ate a bad of popcorn lastnight and feel quilty today and didn't go to the gym...yikes...and can't go tonight...double yikes. Personally that's my downfall...if I was more discipline I'd be able to lose the 10 lbs I need to lose...it's the "treating" that is my problem even though I'm pretty good most of the time. I'd like to lose the 10 lbs and then start the treating...:)

That's a really good question. I have a cheat day once a week. I eat whatever I want. What I have found is that I don't eat that much because my stomach has shrunk, so even though I'm getting my "treats" I still feel satisfied. I've lost 23.5 pounds in 3 mos doing this. Don't feel guilty. Just keep it in moderation.:)

I've have read many articles that say that cheating is actually good for loosing weight. If you eat a strict calorie restricted diet all the time your base metabolism rate drops and you get stuck at some plateau weight. If you cheat on a regular schedule you can avoid this problem. I have read of everything from 5 days on 2 days cheat (every weekend), 12 days on 2 days cheat (every other weekend) to 2 weeks on 2 weeks off schemes. I assume like most things there is some strategy that works better for each individual, based on your body type, age, fitness level, mental state, etc., so you may need to experiment with each to find what works best for you.

so called cheating is good for a few more reasons:
- there are a lot of foods that possibly you 'miss' when you are on a health kick and cheating will keep you from temporarily going insane with cravings ...
- if you have a good diet for the rest of the week, it won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things. It's similar to someone who eats unhealthy all the time and then has a health meal once in awhile ... not much point.
