"Naturally" lowfat ice creams

"Naturally" lowfat ice creams

I got myself some diet sodas and wanted to get some low fat ice cream to make myself smoothies once in a while.

Well....I've never had lowfat ice cream before and I wonder how it tastes. If it's bad, it'll go to waste - no one will eat it! I've have frozen yogurt and it's fine but I can't eat too much dairy.

Anyway, I was sadly checking out the no sugar, no fat ice cream....then noticed, from the regular (non diet) kinds, that plain vanilla does not have as many calories or as much fat as the coffee, chocolate, or other kinds.

So - that's what I got! Anyone else notice this or have had this same experience?

This sort of stuff has a lot of carbs are the serving size. I wouldn't even bother.
1 cup = 41g
I guess if you're not trying to loose weight and just want to eat healthy this is an ok every now and again type thing.
About the taste. I've had these, they're acutally good (coffee = real good). "Once in a while" should be fine.
I've never seen a non-diet ice cream with any less than 7g fat / serving. But if the label says it's just as good, go for it.

Okay, first let me just say, drinking diet soda, is like grabbing your own throat and choking yourself. The aspertame, and other chemicals in diet are not good for you or anyone else. Aspertame is a chemical that gets transfered to wood alchohol in your eyes {this comes straight from my doctor not some wierd article}, and most diet sodas also carry a drug something like rhybonal or some similar spelling that is a mutagen, which mutates your cells causing various types of cancer.

That and soda doesn't make you fat, if it did I would be screwed, because I know my pop, I consume 6+ cans a day, and I'm about 125 lbs, and 5'8". Buy whatever kind of pop you like, but I would advise against diet. Anyway low fat ice cream is a joke too, {it also tends to carry aspertame, but not the rhybonal} it is very hard to find an ice cream that won't either taste horrible or not really cause you not to get fatter, because much like soda, I know a lot about ice cream to, I even have been known to make my own. Knowing what I know about junk foods, I know that you need cream to make ice cream. The only thing they could do is use skim or powdered milk, which tastes awful in my opinion.

So basicly, finish your diet soda, a few cans won't kill you, and don't try for good tasting non-fat ice cream, go to the McDonalds, and get a cone, they use frozen yogurt, which as opposed to most other things on there menu is actualy better for you than the ice cream at the store. Sorry my rant went on for so long, but hopefully it was at least informative.

My family has some pretty good vanilla low-fat ice cream that tastes pretty good. I don't know the brand though... Its probably something uncommon anyway. But you say you are wanting it for smoothies... You could always make smoothies without ice cream. Just add orange juice or any other flavored juice along with your fruit. I guarentee it will taste great... it just won't be thick like the ice cream could make it.

Diet soda is fine. No one claims it to be pure and %100 super healthy but it's way better than regular soda. 6 cans of pepsi... 600 calories (at least), tons of carbs. If that doesn't make you fat nothing will. Diet pop can cause cravings (which if you have will power is nothing to worry about) and yea if you drank it 24 / 7 you'd have brain damage and your bone would be weak as hell, but that goes for regular soda as well. Diet soda once in a while is fine. I wouldn't even worry about it at all if you drink a lot of water.
