Well, I have decided to start MyDiary in hopes of staying motivated to lose weight. I am 32 and currently at 161 lbs. I am striving for a goal weight of 135 lbs. I have been at my current weight (give or take a few pounds) for 2 years now .. since my daughter's birth. I just hadn't been able to get myself in the right mindset for losing weight and kept finding excuses .. 'too tired', 'not enough time'.

Well, a few months ago I read the Abs Diet book and began to follow it for several weeks. I really felt good on the Abs Diet .. I was losing inches .. eating several times a day (which rev'd up my metabolism) and was exercising quite regularly. I did really well for about 6 weeks .. then I went on a mini vacation. Since then, it seemed to be one thing after another and I let myself slip back to where I was when I started. The holidays came .. but really, I know there's no excuse .. I did great for 6 weeks .. I could have survived the holidays, but kept telling myself 'tomorrow I'll get back on track' .. but I didn't ever seem to get to 'tomorrow'.

So, I told myself that I would definitely strive to lose weight in 2010, and keep it off! I've been keeping a food/exercise journal since Sunday and so far, so good. I'm on Day 4. For the last three days, I've tracked my food .. and exercised each day. I am definitely proud of myself .. taking small steps .. but at least they're steps in the right direction. I'm defintely motivated .. I hope keeping this diary will help.
 
I know how you feel. It has been pretty much the same story with staying at the same weight even though I had lost some of it. I hope you can find lots of support here and stick with it. The food diary really helps and there is so much good information and inspiration on this site. goodluck!
 
These are my food and exercise journal entries for the last few days ..

SUNDAY, JAN 3rd:
breakfast: JD Turkey D-light sandwich: 260
mid am : small orange: 45
lunch: beef fajita quesadillas, 1/2 portion: 680

EXERCISE: 30 mins Strength Training plus 10 mins stretching


MONDAY, JAN 4th:

TUESDAY, JAN 5th:

dinner: sandwich thin jr burger w/1/8 mozza and tomato/red onion 286
dinner, cont: 2/3 serving jalapeno chips 100
mid eve snack: StrawberryBanana Protein Smoothie 300

EXERCISE: 30 mins Strength Training plus 10 mins stretching


I'm still working on today's entry .. and I still haven't exercised .. but I usually don't get my exercise in until the evening anyways .. :)

I only got to do about 10 minutes of stretching yesterday, but I at least my calorie intake wasn't too high to make up for my missed exercise day. Here is my food journal for yesterday:

breakfast: JD Turkey D-light sandwich (1/2) 130
mid am : peanut butter on wheat bread 223
lunch: Thundercloud sub Tuna on wheat 610
lunch, cont: sm orange 45
mid pm: almonds & apple 205
dinner: chicken, w/veggies & rice 280

Total Wed cals: 1493


As for today, I have not been so good w/my eating. Tonight is the BCS game (GO HORNS!!) and my husband is picking up take out. I'll do my best, but I'm sure I'll give in more than I should. Lunch at work was also hard to resist. We ordered BBQ .. I did order the chicken and had a baked potato, but got tempted with the mac&cheese. It was mmm mmm good! Oh yeah .. I forgot about the cookies they brought in! :blush5:

Oh well! I'm not going to let my day of eating discourage me .. I can say, though, that although I had some 'high in calorie' choices, my portion sizes were reasonable. I did stay conscious of my portions .. little steps, right?

Wow - I've tried to post a few times this weekend, but end up getting side-tracked or click out of my page and lose everything I have written. Oh Well!

I am happy to update that I lost 1 whole pound this past week! yay! :hurray: I think I'm going to set myself a weight loss goal of -2 lbs by next week.

I plan to step up on the exercise minutes. I tracked a total of 180 minutes for last week. I'm hoping to get to 200+ this week.

My eating has been good .. not as hard as it used to be. It's the exercise, for me, that I think is harder to achieve.

So far, so good, though. I exercised for 40 mins yesterday, and already have 20 for today. I'll try and get in another 20 before the night is over.
