My Weightloss Diary - A New Start

Hello! I am not quite sure where to start... so I'll just answer the questions that I found on the introduction thread to diaries.

-- How much weight do you want to lose?

I would like to lose 20 pounds, but that is negotiable. Whatever will be a healthy weight for (not following the BMI charts) is ideal.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?

None, at this time, although as quickly as possible. I would not want it to take more than 2 or 3 months.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?

I would like to exercise and maintain a healthier diet.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?

Mostly myself because my family is across the country, but my mom and sister will always be supportive.

-- How realistic is your goal?

I'd say it's pretty realistic. :)

-- When will you start?

Tomorrow.

1. What is your current height and weight?
140lbs, 4'11".

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
Around 120lbs.

3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
Around 120lbs.

4. Why do you want to lose weight?
To look better, to feel better, and to be healthier. My family has a bad medical history.

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
No.

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
My lack of self-control with eating junk food.

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Because I eat junk food at night.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
I need to learn self-control and self-motivation to be able to go and exercise.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Yes. When I don't eat junk food and eat my meals in moderation.

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
Because I started to eat at night again.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
I go for extremes right away, because I want to lose weight quickly.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
Yes.

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
No, I live in a dorm in college.

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
I go to the school cafeteria.

15. What are your three favorite foods?
Mac and cheese, pepperoni, and strawberries.

16. What are your three favorite restaurants?
Cracker Barrel, Bennigans, and... probably Quiznos.

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Not eat at night, don't skip meals, and eat food in moderation.

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
I would be thin, my breasts would not change size, my skin could be clear of red blemishes and acne.

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Yes.

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
No.

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
Yes.

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
No.

23. Do you eat as a reward?
No.

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Yes.

25. What do you normally eat for a meal?
Breakfast... either a bagel with cream cheese, a piece of fruit, a pop tart, or nothing.

26. What type of snacks do you eat?
White cheddar popcorn, cheez itz, chocolate bars, cheetos, chips.

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
I'm supposed to be doing Zumba twice a week and power training twice a week, but I haven't been going to the classes.

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
It would be at the Rec Center in town.

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
I really enjoy zumba... and taking long walks.

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
When I don't feel good about myself.

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals?
No.

Well, that was somewhat depressing. :p Well... I'll start the food diary tomorrow.

My goals for November 10, 2010 will be to include a salad in my meals during the day, not to buy any food from the vending machine, and not to buy any food at the store tomorrow night. We'll see how that goes!
