My weight loss

Hi! I'm a 16-year-old female and I've been trying to lose some weight for the past year and a half. At 5'1'' (157 cm) I used to weight around 176 pounds (80 kg) and I dropped to 139 pounds (63 kg). But I didn't lose that weight in a very healthy way - during the school year 07/08 I'd been starving myself, I didn't eat for entire day at school (7 hours). Now I'm too weak to starve myself, but I think that I don't eat enough.

I usually eat around 1200 calories per day. For breakfast I always have a plain yoghurt and a banana. Then for lunch I eat some fruit or corn snacks, and for dinner I usually have grilled fish with cauliflower or rice with some vegetables. I don't eat past 6 p.m and I often go to bed at 11 p.m. and when I go to bed I feel really hungry. When I wake up I feel weak.

I also binge. I think that I might even have the Binge Eating Disorder. I like everything to be perfect, so I cut out on any sugary products. I haven't binged for 18 days and I'm trying really hard to resist one. I usually don't think of any unhealthy foods. It's just that when someone says "Uhh, I'm gonna have a chocolate" I start to panic and I want desperately eat chocolate. All of my friends eat a lot of sweets and they don't gain any weight, even if they don't work out. They also don't seem to care that I'm trying to lose weight, so I have no support and actually feel lonely.

I'd like to get down to 110 pounds (50 kg) but it's hard for me, because I can't work out too hard (I can't breath). I remember one time when I went for a bike ride and I got back home barely breathing. As a child I used to have asthma due to my allergies. I usually go for a walk three times a day for 45 minutes and that's just about that. I used to lose 0,2 kg a day, but now it stopped.

I've got some questions for you guys.
- What do you do to resist a binge?
- How do you motivate yourself if you don't have much support from other people?
- What do you do to stop emotional eating?

PS. Sorry if my post is a bit chaotic. I'm just really stressed, because I'm afraid of your reaction to it. And sorry for any gramatic mistakes, I'm from Poland. I'm posting the 'before and after' photo, but I don't think you can really see any differance, I don't have better pictures.

hi! welcome to the forum :)

just a few thoughts after i read your post...it looks like you're really making an attempt to eat healthy. congrats on not binging for 18 days, that is an accomplishment. maybe add a few snacks in between meals though. i can imagine that you're hungry before you go to bed if you stop eating at 6! i'd be starving. if you want to have dinner eaten by 6, go for it, but add in a small snack at around 8...a piece of fruit, a couple glasses of water, that way you aren't hungry before bed and won't feel weak when you wake up. i know when i wake up in the morning i'm ready for breakfast immediately!!

since you can't work out too hard, maybe try walking on the treadmill at an incline. the faster and the higher incline it is, the more intense it'll be...but take it easy and figure out what you can do. it's an effective workout, for me it has been at least. and it's easier on my knees.

to resist a binge and emotional eating, i try to find something else to do to occupy my time. so if i'm really thinking about going into the kitchen and eating that entire chocolate cake, i'll call my grandmother, since she likes to talk on the phone and can easily talk to me for an hour. by then, i forget about my craving. if i'm angry, i go to the gym and work it off. whatever works to occupy your time.

a lot of people on this website don't have people to motivate and support them in real life, that's why we're seeking support from others in similar situations online. make some friends and gain a support group...even though they can't be there in real life to kick your butt if you eat bad or don't go to the gym, you still won't wanna let them down. there's also lots of challenges on here you can join...you'll be working towards your goal with a bunch of other people and sometimes a little competition can get everyone eating a little better and moving more!!

good luck on your journey...the hardest part is getting started!!
