My Weight Loss Plan, will this work??

Hi guys.

I've just joined the gym about 6 weeks ago after a really unhealthy lifestyle (driniking a lot of beer and eating a lot of junk food) I was rather athletic before i let myself go (played soccer 3 times a week) 180cm quite athletic build apart from some excess fat around my gut..

I've been doing 45min spin class at the gym 4-5 times a week, 15 mins light weight training and maybe 5-10mins mins of sit ups every time..

I've changed my diet also, for breakfast: Kellogs ceral with skinny milk, sometimes bacon & eggs. For lunch most days I don't really eat lunch but when I do, chicken sandwich or soup or tuna salad, then ill go to the gym around 6-7ish and after that i'll have another Salad for Dinner (just vinegar and oil in the Salads) maybe 8.30ish.

I've managed to lose 4 kilos in 4 weeks but the last couple of weeks i've sort of been hovering around the 78 - 77.5kg mark without any really weight loss, also im losing weight but the fat around my belly is still there and doesn't look like it's getting any smaller??

also im taking these Stacker 2 weight loss pills, probably the reason im not eating lunch most days as they suppress my appetite (I usually have one after Breakfast)

My question is, if i just continue to do what I'm doing is it unrealistic to believe ill have my flat stomach back possibly a 6 pack back by Feb/March, or have I hit a wall where I have to double my routine and eat less???

It doesn't really sound like you are eating enough - and the weight loss pills will mess you up. Your programme looks fine but reduce a couple of the spin classes and sub these for some higher intensity weight lifting/bodyweight work (compund exercises).

You can have a play around with the macro nutrient levels of your diet - perhaps a higher percentage of fat and protein against your existing carb levels. Eating less and less is the one thing that will stop you losing weight.

I don't understand how can eating less stop you from losing weight, If i'm burning more calories then what I'm putting into my body???

"and the weight loss pills will mess you up" do you mean as in the side effects ? i did have some Insomnia, Nausea at first but I think my body has gotten used to them so im fine for taking them now...

From your original post it sounds like you aren't eating enough - when your body doesn't get enough food it will go into starvation mode and, after a time, you'll start to metabolise muscle tissue. Plus, in the long term this can effect your basal metabolic rate (meaning that you'll really, really struggle to burn body fat).

Body fat is an energy store - if your body thinks it doesn't need this stored energy ie because you are eating regularly then it will burn these stores. This is why ultra low calorie diets do not work. Up the calorie intake and keep training hard.

And getting used to diet pills is not a good thing. Any ingested stimulant will result in your body being less effective at producing its own stimulants.

Bokibarka, it sounds like your starting off great, which is awesome. Keep it up and i'm sure you'll see some results from your routine.

I would recommend eating more as Coach recommends. It's nice to see the quick results from eating less right away, but in the long run it's going to be harder for you to reach the physique you're striving for. You want that metabolism running at 100% all day long, so keep your body fed. Just break up your meals and eat healthy throughout the day.

I noticed you were doing some light weight lifting, which is great. Weight training is a great way to lose weight. Adding some heavy, more intense lifting into your routine will definitely help you reach your goal quicker. The more muscle you begin to put on, the more energy you're body will need to feed it. Which is what you want.

Good Luck
