My weight loss journey - Project20

Hi, I'm Christie and I'm on a plan to lose 20 LBS. I'm taking small steps by given myself 30 days off of certain foods and a exercise regiment to start. The goal is to start better eating habits and to exercise more. I've decided to call my journey....Project 20!! Here are the details...

Im 31, 5'7", 200 LBS. Im not use to being this size, my usual regular weight is 150 - 165 but that was 7 plus years ago. Im not trying to get that small again but my goal is 20LBS which would put me at 180 LBS which would be a drastic change for me.

I LOVE starches so Im giving them up for 30 days. No Bread, No Rice, No Potatoes, also No Sodas, No Sweet Tea and ABSOLUTELY NO EATING after 8pm. Im not trying to starve myself but just teach myself to make healthier eating choices and to exercise more.

Exercise goals

Mondays & Thursday- Wii ZUMBA two 20 minutes classes

Tuesday & Friday - Scissor Sit-ups 50 & Push-up 25

Wednesday & Saturday Walk Exercise 2 miles.

Eat a good balance breakfast to start my day, light lunch, and deceit dinner with small snacks in between like fruit, jello, etc. I don't expect to lose all 20 LBS in these 30 days but to jump start my weight loss process.

I'm so tired of feeling heavy and ready for a change. Any support, ideas (recipes, snacks, exercise) or testimony are appreciated to help me on my journey. I have never did a food log but Im going to try posting my food log here. Maybe if I have to fess up to what I eat, it'll help me not eat what Im not suppose to.

Hi Project20/Christie

Welcome to the forum! I think you'll find there is alot of support here for you on this forum...I've found it's a key part of my support system and a place to share my thoughts (good, bad and ugly) with people who try to help and offer a cyber shoulder and listening ear! Your 30 day rules look alot like my rules for my diet. We're the same height...I've got about 20 years on you, and our weight is close to the same now (I started at 269...trust me you don't want to get that big...and I'm currently at 188, on my way to 143). I've done what you are doing now + exercising for the last 10 months...sometimes good, sometimes not so good...but it all counts and has resulted in an 80 pound loss and I'm feeling much better about myself...OK, enough about me...don't want to hijack your diary!

I encourage you to poste every day...it does help keep me honest, and I do enjoy and get support from reading others diaries and posting ideas and reading their posts in mine. It helps me not feel so alone on the journey!

To lose 20 pounds is a great goal...do-able but not "automatic"! It will take work and by that I mean good food choices (you've already made some good choices...now stick by them!) and for me it took exercise. I knew that for me, diet alone wouldn't get it...I had to include exercise. I started out 30 minutes a day on a level treadmill going slow...I've worked my way up over time to 1 hr on the elliptical and I do it every day...with the occasional rest day.

I look forward to reading about your progress!
