Welcome Princess

Congratulations on your weight loss so far.

However, i feel it is important to council you on your method.

You are not eating enough. This is harmful and you won't be able to keep the weight off. Do like i do and eat a good amount of filling healthy low calorie food and you won't be hungry, and you will be able to keep this weight loss up for as long you as need and then when you reach your goal, you will be able to successfully stabilise at your ideal weight.

want2lose has been maintaining her low weight for 18 months. So she is excellent proof of how good eating and eating enough wins out.

When you give your height and weight and age, we can work out what your daily calories should be. And you can work it your self too using this BMR calculator.

If you've never counted calories before, its a good idea to give it a go. But if you don't want to, have a read of my diary to see how much i eat and the type of foods i eat. I am loving my food and being on my diet. It is really not so hard when you do it properly.

You need good nutrition because if you don't, it will undo your ability to continue your diet and it will also damage your body in the long run. In the short term, it will just take away a lot of muscle weight - which you don't want and lead to cravings, tiredness and a lowered immune system.

You can learn all the right ways on this forum.

But don't be put off by this spiel. I am really trying to help you.

Hii :) i appreciate your inputt x but i dont normally eat a lot anyway x i was just eating the wrong things x and honestly im not hungry at all !!x if i was hungry id have more but im really not :) x iv never ate a lot of food it was just always take-aways x im a support assistat and do shift work so that keeps my mind of food & by the time i sit down to eat its time to get back up and work again !!! haha x

Stacey, fortyfour has given you some really good advice. It's not about your appetite, it's about the fuel that your body needs to function. Not only are you almost certainly not eating enough calories (calories are a unit of energy- this energy is what we need to run our bodies), but your nutrition is pretty bad too. I'd guess you were extremely low on protein, and I don't see any fruit at all in that diet. To be honest, it looks like you're eating junk food, just lower calorie or less junk food than you could be. It's not all about the calories (or weight watchers points).

I suggest you look at the NHS' guidelines on healthy eating:

Also, losing a stone in three weeks is deeply unhealthy, unless you're very, very overweight (recommended weight loss up to either 1kg a week- there's about 7kg in a stone- or 2% of your body weight). You're going to be losing more muscle than fat, slowing your metabolism (meaning your body will find it harder to burn fat, as well as other health consequences), and causing yourself health problems in the long run.

Yep i Kno :) x But As i Said i Dont Eat Alot At All x Never Have Done x Dont Really Eat Fruit Either x im A Very Very Picky Eater So i Like Very Few Things x But Beleive it Or Not All That Fills Me Up x if i Actually Struggled To Eat The Crisps Later On But Knew i Had To Eat At Least Somthing Haha x iv Been Known To Only Have A Slice Of Toast And Pak Of Crisps All Dayy x

That doesn't mean it's good for you. Crisps have little to no nutritional value, and you need a certain number of calories to survive (without knowing your stats, a minimum of 1200 for the shortest most sedentary adult female- I'm fairly sure you're not getting that).

Calories aren't necessarily about bulk, you don't have to eat a lot to get enough calories (as people like me who have very big appetites don't have to starve to stay on a lower calorie diet. For example, 25g of the nut mix I really like- that's about the size of a 50p coin- is 150 calories. To get 150 calories of courgettes, you'd need 883g, which is at least 5 medium courgettes). It's about fuel. Think about yourself like a car. A car needs a certain amount of petrol to get from A to B everyday. This car (you) is not only not getting enough petrol, but you're also filling up your petrol tank (body) with rubbish- think about it like putting sand and nails and Coca Cola into the petrol tank. The petrol tank might look full, but it's not all petrol, and some of it will damage the car. You, unlike a car, can keep functioning without enough petrol, day to day. But over time, you'll start to suffer damage. Your health will suffer without the proper nutrients, which not only means getting sick, but it also means your body will try to take fuel from elsewhere (your bones, hair, skin, muscle- it'll detract from your appearance). It's called "being malnourished". Like those kids in Africa you see on the TV. You may not get that thin, but if you keep this up for a long time you might get about as sick.

Your body doesn't care that you're a picky eater. You need those nutrients, and you can't get them in what you're eating (and you can't get them in tablets either, before you go down that route). You have to eat vegetables and fruit, and you have to eat some sort of protein (meat, cheese, or vegetarian/ vegan alternatives). You need to try these things again, you might find you like some of them again. Or that you feel better because you're not eating crap all the time, and so it's worth it.

You might lose the weight eating like this, but it's not worth it. Your health is far more important than anything else you've got (everything else you've got depends on it), and you're putting it at serious risk.

Hi again, stacy, i was gonna wait til tomorrow to ask you this but i've just read your response to the other stacy's diary and now i can't wait any longer.

What are you stats? How much do you weigh, what's your height and how old are you?

How much you eat should follow from that, factoring in any exercise if you do it.

If you eat less than your BMR you will have given yourself a very slow metabolism and it could be the reason you have put on so much weight.

As you are doing WW, haven't they persuaded you against eating such a small daily calorie intake?

I don't really know much about WW. All i know is that they have a points system based on how many calories you can afford to eat a day, make money from selling lots of puddings and nutritionally balanced meals that wouldn't fill me up because they are too small. But i would assume that they would teach you how to eat enough calories for your body size.

Hiiiii :) x No no because im down to losing like 3 pounds a week xx i dont always eat that little honest haha !!x sometimes i go out for big 3 course meals with my friends and stuff x but i save points for drink :) as i am after all a 22 year old girl hehe xx

yesterday i had......

didnt have time for breakfast !! so by the time i ate it was around 1pm and i was in town x..

back of crisps for snack at 1pm?x
curly wurly a bit later on as i was in work and just grabbed it x
tin of spag bol with 2 bits of toast , banana & yogurt for dinner x
orange later on xxx

then went out drinking with friends hehe xx god night, bad hangover todayyyyy :( xxx

I don't think you're understanding what we're saying. It's not all about weight loss. You're going to damage your health if you eat like that. It's called "junk food" for a reason. You need to eat 5 serves of fruit and veg a day, have more protein, and cut the overprocessed garbage that seems to constitute most of your diet at the moment. Crisps and curly wurly's aren't food, they're crap, and tinned meals only just barely count as food (it's mostly crap too).

no i do understand what your sayin ?x but its the way i lose weight and because i do shift work & am also a student i have no time what so ever to sit about cooking meals ! hence why all i used to eat was take-aways ?x people do it different ways and this is my way of doing it, cause it suits me thers only so much food i can carry around with me to work and collage hence why tinned food and microwave meals work for me.

Good to see some fruit in your diet.
I don't think you eat thatttt badly. I mean, maybe add a few more of your 5-a-day and drink lots of water and maybe some whole grains and you're good.
But if it works for you, we cant really make you eat differently. *shrug*
Maybe take a multivitamin?

Good luck babe.

Thank youuuu :) x oh ano i do tryy to get fruit in hehe x its just soo hard when im always out the house iv constantly go to carry food about with me or just jump into the nearest shop on my way to werever im goin xx its torture but what can you do haha x

Apart from making an arguement for eating more , what i was really posting about was the question at beginning. I want to know how much you weigh, height and age. I know its none of my business if you don't want to tell me/us but i do have a reason for asking. Its not just curiosity.

So could you at least tell me if you are medically overweight or already within the medically healthy weight range.
