My Strange Experience With The EC Stack (Ephedrine/Caffeine)

Hi.

33 year old man. 6' tall, 245 lbs, and looking strictly to shed lbs.

At least 40 of those 245 lbs were put on in the last 3-4 years, due to working more frequently on a computer, and not knowing how to cook. I also only ate 2 large meals a day -- pasta and sandwiches -- which means being in a perpetual catabolic state.

About a month ago, I decided to change all that : 5 small meals a day, more protein (via bars and whey isolate shakes), fewer carbs, and more cardio at the gym.

But keep in mind, I'm still spending my days on a computer (due to work).

I also progressively got on the EC Stack. First few days was just 8mg Ephedrine HCL, nothing else. I wanted to see how jittery I'd get, and how my heart would react (I had a one-time episode of stress-related arythmia as a teenager, 20 years ago, so just in case...) Well, it must have had a placebo effect on me because despite being on only 8mg of E, all of the above combined to help me lose about 7lbs my first week.

By the end of that first week, since I wasn't really feeling any of the known effects of the E, I added another 16mg, and stacked it with 200mg of caffeine, for the recommended dosage of 24E/200C per day.

(Note: I'm someone who hasn't drank a drop of coffee in his life, and only rarely drinks Coke. In other words, my body isn't very familiar with caffeine. So naturally, I expected my system to freak out -- and I was ready for it.)

Yet, nothing happened. I mean literally nothing. I'm not more awake, more alert, or even the slightest bit jittery. On one hand I'm relieved, but on the other, I'm disappointed that the EC Stack doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. No negative side-effects, but none of the positives either.

Since that first week, I haven't lost any weight. And I ran through my entire bottle of Ephedrine HCL (24mg per day).

The company manufacturing the kind I bought is Synergenex. Maybe it's the brand?

Ingredients : Ephedrine HCL (8mg per tablet).
Non-medicinal ingredients : Microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, calcium phosphate, silicon dioxide.

How can my body be completely immune to this stuff, *or* the 200mg of caffeine I'm stacking with it?

I'm serious... no jitters, no nothing. Any weight I seem to lose is a direct result of how much time I spent on the treadmill, and nothing else. If I skip the gym for 3-4 days, I don't lose anything those 3-4 days. And that's with the meals spaced out to 5 per day.

Is it because I'm a big guy, as with alcohol? Do I need to increase the dosage until I actually FEEL something?

I've read up a LOT on the EC Stack online before trying it... and I've read all kinds of testimonials ranging from "It's great!" to "It's too intense for me, my body couldn't handle it!"

But not once did I read "Meh, even with the full recommended dosage (24E, 200C) I don't feel a thing."

Am I broken or something? I mean, I've been using the full dosage for 2-3 weeks. Every morning with my breakfast.

Are people perhaps confusing Ephedrine with Ephedra?

I'm going to go buy a second bottle of Ephedrine HCL tomorrow, and choose another manufacturer (if only for the psychological aspect of having changed). It's so cheap that I don't mind sticking with it for another month.

But maybe someone has another explanation why my body seems to be completely ignoring the fact that I'm taking it. I did, after all, lose 7 lbs in 7 days BEFORE adding caffeine to the mix.

Is it possible my body adapted to the E in a week? I've heard of "4 weeks on / 1 week off" cycles, but never "1 week on / 2 days off" or anything like that.

Thoughts / suggestions?

Thanks!

Oh man, your lucky to have been able to go through this experiance with no unfortunate side effects! That being said, I would STOP IMMEDIANTLY taking those pills. Why are you TRYING to get your body to react negatively to pills??

Go for the old fashioned way of weight lose. Eat less, move more. Visit the "on topic" section of the forum, theres TONS of great info in the stickies posted!!

a little harsh, and uneducated. eca is relatively common, with no harmful side effects per say... But thats where the grey area is. Side effects are basically increased heart rate and blood pressure. Which for someone with a heart condition, high blood pressure, clogged arteries, etc, can be a death sentence. It's actually the main reason for the ephedrine ban, people started keeling over from stroke.

however, eca is harmless if used properly if you don't have heart problems. I've done it a few times while cutting and it's no big deal. However, your recommended dosage is low. you should be 3x that per day at the top end..

I found this "article" from this site... but here it is....

Side Effects of EC Stack...

Irregular Heartbeat
An ECA stack is a stimulant, which can cause an irregular or racing heartbeat.
Increased Thirst
Taking an ECA stack can cause mouth dryness and increased thirst. Increasing your water intake can help with this side effect.
Insomnia
Insomnia is having difficulty falling asleep and can lead to lower levels of energy and sleepiness throughout the day.
Dizziness
Dizziness, or feeling faint and lightheaded is a side effect of taking an ECA stack. Dizziness can wear off after your body has had an opportunity to get used to the ECA stack.
Headache
While an ECA stack can cause headaches, the biggest cause of an ECA-related headache is withdrawal (as a result of the caffeine in the stack).

Heres more...

......The "stack" of ingredients helped provide people who took the product with a boost of energy while at the same time assisting with the burning of unwanted fat. These effects helped make the supplement quite popular among consumers looking for a product to help them with their weight-loss or muscle-toning goals, but unfortunately, the ingredients were shown to have caused serious and destructive side-effects.

The very same ingredients that helped with the individual's health goals were also the ones that caused serious damage to the individual's important liver functions and in some cases caused serious health problems for individuals who took the supplement........

I don't know much about this personally, although I'm curious. I have seen quite a few articles about EC at Lyle Mcdonald's forum, so you might ask over there.
