My story- how long will it take me to loose the weight? Start:240 lbs

Hey everyone!

My name is Michael.

So I´m male 18 years old, 6 foot tall and I right now weigh 240 lbs.


I have always been quite a chubby child... not terribly obese but not skinny at all. To years ago I weighed 215 lbs and managed to get down to 196 lbs through eating less and excercising regularly.


The last two years though I have put on a lot of weight and now weight 240 lbs.


My new goal is to lose 60 lbs to be in a healthy weight of 180 pounds or less.


Considering I´m a big man... and I like to eat... how long do you think it could take me... I have never lost that amout of weight...


And it is difficult because my family has always seen food as a good thing, something to have when you celebrate, something to enjoy... which is fine, but when chocolates and other treats are coming your way when you dont want them to, its difficult.


I am leaving home in November... so it would be good if it could be done before that...


What do you think??

You're young!! Your body can make adjustments quickly, and you have lots of opportunities to get out and use that terrific healthy body! Yeah... I reckon you could lose it by November! That's averaging four pounds a week (isn't it? check my maths!) which is not the slow and steady weight loss which we all know is best, but sometimes a quick kick-start is good, too!


I dare not say good luck (joke!) because scbibhouse has been teaching us all, it's not about luck, it's about choices -- so: good choices, and have fun doing it!! :coolgleama:



(p.s. sympathies on the food-and-family-love front! it's a complex business, and deserves a thread of its own sometime!)

Yes, you are right, I have done the math and it fits round about 16 weeks in total at a little less than 4 lbs each week...


I guess if I put my mind on it it shouldnt be impossible to achieve... I just get so distracted...


I really want to have a normal body weight though... its bothering me a lot and I feel I should take care of myself more and be more self concious.


I will try to get back into the habit of excercising and I´ll let you know how I get on.
