my sister had gastric bypass

She looks like death warmed over now. Her eyes are sunken in and so are her cheeks. She's always cheating by overeating or drinking alcohol and she wonders why she gets sick.

Y'see, the doctors insisted that she loose 30 lbs. on her own before the surgery. She did just by walking and eating healthy. I thought sure they were trying to show her that she could do it without the aid of surgery but the cut into her anyway.

Don't know about any of you but I can shrink my stomach capacity on my own by limiting my portions and not binging. The stomach is very elastic and will spring back if not stretched. I used to be able to down an entire 16" pizza myself but now I can handle 3 slices and I'm done.

I guess the point of this is to encourage people to loose weight through diet and exercise if you can. I realize there are some folks who can't exercise and gastric bypass is the only option.

Thanks for reading.

good post! seems like most people jump to the surgery not realizing how awful the post surgery days can be. My mom lost weight having 2 GB surgeries and over the last 20 yrs she's slowly putting it back on. I'm determined to lose weight the right way! Good old fashioned, eat less/move more!

I know a woman who is very sick years after her surgery. The last I talked to her she wasn’t able to eat anything. I think her body is going into starvation mode because even when she was eating, it was only like 300-500 cal a day. She is even having a hard time drinking enough for her body.

I am on the list for a bypass I have tried excercise and diet but my hunger gets in the way still worried about the bypass but yes discipline very impotant once it is done I hope I have the strength to abide by new rules or will end up like your sister
