My progress

About me:

Basically I started a health kick 7 weeks ago. I started with the 100 push up challenge, and deciding to give up drinking sodas. A week later I decided to start training for a marathon. I've been running for 5 weeks now, and although completed the 100 push up challenge, I'm still doing them. I recently bought a pull up bar, and have also been doing my own sit up regimen for a couple weeks (consists of 3 variations of crunches).

My workouts consist of cardio work, and body weight exercises. I also have been eating fairly well. I used to do free weight work outs but for my new hobby of running, I just want to have the lean muscle look. So far, I've managed to do pretty good on losing the body fat. Since I hadn't done ANY kind of physical activity since I graduated, my lower abdominal region was pooching. It's almost completely flat now.

My marathon is December 14th. My end date for my body transformation is December 25th. I'll be posting pictures every couple of weeks.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures. I kept messing with the flash and without it the pictures were just too blurry. Also, sorry that I don't have any from before I started. I wasn't a member of the forum so I really didn't think about it.

Well that's it. Once again, sorry for the quality of the pictures. I know my body isn't anything special right now but I'm optimistic that if I keep up the work, I'll have the lean muscle look that I want to. Thanks for stopping to look!

Hey, it's your body, and it is something special. It's your temple. And you're treating it right.

For what you're doing and what your goals are, I think your body looks really good. You're a lean, mean, marathon machine :)

And that flash? I know all about the flash. It's not easy to take good pics, especially when the lighting is a bit "off".

Well thank you very much for the support. It just seemed either REALLY dark in the pictures or REALLY blurry. Oh well :)

Base is good! Camera sucks. Any decent entry-level digital camera should have an auto that makes indoor photos pretty much impossible to mess up.

Looking forward to following your progress. :)

Thanks jerk! Aha, just kidding man. The camera is actually my roommates so I think I just didn't know how to use it. For my next set of pictures, I'll probably just get someone to take pictures of me so they will be of better quality. Once again, thanks for the support! :party2:

Hey, at least it's not a phone camera!

Nice job on shedding the fat - you are one lean, mean, marathon machine. For certain sports, running and cycling, you are the ideal size. For other activities, you might want a little more muscle on ya.

You're right. We're built pretty similar. Funny that I actually got into this whole fitness thing by training for a bet that I couldn't run 5 miles in under and hour, much like you did training for a marathon. Heh, that's funny.

Anyhow, good luck with the progress. Look forward to following your progress and have an eye on this thread.

Yeah I'm gonna keep cutting for probably 2 more weeks. I figure that will get rid of the excess fat that I don't want. After that I'll start up a little harder on my body weight training and try to put a little more muscle on.

Thanks to everyone who stops to check out my progress. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated with how I do. My next picture update will be October 19th (the day after my next 5k).

I have heard that a runner picks up 1% performance for every pound of fat lost. If I got down to 178 (10% bf for me) from my current 192 (currently 17% bf), I would theoretically reduce my run times by 14% which would bring my 5K time down from a current 27 minutes to 22 minutes!

Why stop there? If you get down to the double digits weight you'd be running like in the low 10s!

Aha, naw. I think I'm probably just gonna lose another pound or so. I really don't think I need to lose much more than that.

Friggen sweet, man. So, when I lose 30 lbs of fat, I'll be able to run a 16 minute 5k. I hope you're right. But even if you're not, I won't be mad. Mostly because it's hard to be mad at someone for lying to you when the result of buying in is dead sexiness. :D

Dude, but... why not? For us guys, sitting at 5-8% body fat is perfectly healthy, and, well.. why carry extra fat? Is it because you're too lazy to eat right!? IS IT!? :p
My 'eating right' is hard work... I have to pick through whatever my cafeteria decides to make for me! :action7:

Aha, but in all seriousness I'm hoping I can get down to 7% in two weeks. I really think I'll be able to do it considering between now and then I'll log about 50 miles of running mixed with the other random crap I do. If not then I'll just keep working until I am. So take that! :angry3:

You have a good starting point and your quads are looking good!

Keep building.
