my plan

Hey everyone. I'm new here and just started my weight loss plan a week ago... right now, I weigh 209 pounds, but last week I weighed 213, and my goal is about 180 by July 1st. I'm 18 years old, by the way. I'm trying to eat under 1800 calories a day, and I walk or jog 1.5 miles a day, and do 25 push ups, and 20 situps every night. My typical daily menu is like this

breakfast- a cup of cereal and milk- about 230 calories
snack - couple granola bars - 200 calories
lunch - something around 300-400 calories, like a bagel with a little bit of cream cheese on it
dinner - something around 700-800 calories... example- last night I had some ziti with a small slice of italian bread. I just make sure I eat slow, so I dont eat as much.

I also try to drink about 10 glasses of water every day.

So I was wondering if anyone had some advice/input for me. I'm hoping my goal of 180 in 4 months is realistic...

Sounds like you could use some reading on nutrition. While its good that you're trying to eat around 1800 calories, you're meals could use work. Start here: John Berardi - Nutrition Articles

Are you in high school? Do you have access to a gym? While getting out and moving is a great start, you're gonna need to put some stress on your body soon. 25 situps/pushups isnt gonna cut it. You need some resistance.

Thanks for the website, it looks really helpful.

I'm in high school now, but I dont have access to a gym. Once the snow and the ice melt, I'm going to start jogging...probably a couple miles a day at first. But is just jogging enough exercise, or should I do other things, too?

What about your schools gym?

What about your schools gym?

I'm actually homeschooled, so I dont have an actual school.

I should also mention that I play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) alot, and set the workout mode to about 450 calories to burn off... so I guess that counts as some form of aerobics.
