My plan (to start)

Thank you for reading, this may be a long post.

I have just awaken from a 5 year hiatus. I am 35 and 40lbs overweight.
I spent my twenties in very good shape and I know what it takes for me
to get there (time, dedication, hard work) and I'm very happy to be back
on track although only 2 weeks in.

I see there are some very very knowledgeable people here, so I thought I
would run my regemin past you and hopefully get some good advice/feedback.

I used to work out at a gym but that is not an option now, because I am a
family man now and don't want to be away, so...to the basement it is!

My current workout for the purpose of : fat burn/stamina

curcuit:
jump rope(150 rev)
db swings(30-50 rep)
sit ups(25-30)
dips(12-15)
leg raise(15)
clean/press(10)
push-ups(10)
one arm row(15)

I rest 30-60 seconds between excercise and repeat this curcuit 3 times.
I am doing this routine 3 days a week and doing 30 mins of elliptical 2 days.
2 days rest.

My basic diet is around 2000 calories (low carb) spread out over 5 meals.
I try to work out before dinner but I struggle with what to eat before/after
excersise.

I plan to follow this set-up for about 2 months and then move to a more weight centered split routine.

Any advice on what I should or shouldn't be doing based on this set-up?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are off to a good start!! You sound like me, trying to fit a workout in around work, kids, wife, etc...

The general opinion seems to be carbs before the workout (for energy, our muscles run on carbs ) and protein after, for muscle repair. I would like to say that I follow that, but I'm not that disciplined. I pretty much go with what my body tells me it needs ( now that it knows junk food is not an option. lol )

Now, I will step aside and let the bigger brains on here go to work.
