What meds are you on? Try googling the med name and see if a side effect is weight gain---losing weight is hard, maybe we all just need a healthy dose of patience (I think I need a triple dose)

Kaitie's right as usual ... has pretty much every drug listed... and will show you the side effects, if weight gain is a side effect of a specific drug, perhaps your doctor can suggest an alternative.

At your age, I'd hate to see you undergo dangerous major surgery without exploring all options first. Unless your eating habits change, gastric bypass won't do much for you.

Taking a supplement is a dangerous thing, rarely do they get FDA approval, so you have no idea how they will interact with your current meds.

I'd suggest keeping an honest journal of everything you are eating.. measuring everything and then talking to your doctor or a nutritionist about what changes you should make

ok heres the thing i dont really eat all that badly and ive been trying for over three years to lose the weight ive lost only about 21 lbs in three years :( thats not enough and i could have lost more if it wrent for these meds!! but the problem is that im on phsiciatric meds which i cannot willnot stop taking but thanks for the site ill look into it : )

talk to your doctor about what you can do about your weight.. Especially the doctor that has prescribed the medication for you.. DO NOT under any condition self medicate... or pick an over the counter weight aid - it could have an effect on the drugs you are already taking.

well i checked out the site over half of my meds cause weight gain o well ill just keep at it and try harder : (

yes i know that otc drugs can interact but im not sure what to do about this my meds took along time to balance properally i cant change them

First, the suggestion about a food log was an excellent one - maybe start a diary here on this site, in the diary section, to catalogue food/exercise, etc?

Also some people find that when they are in a rut, dropping or raising (yes I said raising!) the calories by 200-300 a day can snap them out of it.

But unfortunately, if your meds have weight gain side effects, you're just going to ultimately have to keep plugging away at it. You're making progress, keep your hope up! It's just slower than you want, but it's still MOVEMENT in the RIGHT DIRECTION!

I'm not much help because I don't personally know too much about the subject.. but I was on Medications for mood disorders and you should (if your doctor knows what's good for you) be weened off of them within a year. A lot of teenagers are over medicated.. So for now while you're on the medications try maintaining your weight...

I agree talk to your doctor. Maybe you need to increase your workout for more cardio. You are right to think the surgery is a little extreme for someone your age. My husband had it done just in June and is doing great but he would be the first to say it isn't for teenagers or women who want to have childern.

Remember you are losing so make that an achievment.

thanks everyone for your advice sorry i havent answered right away i had to go i will try some of your guys ideas i cant get off of my pills ill go nuts without them i know its sounds stupid but its true i cant get weened of them i need them well thanks alot all
