Hey friends,

I am brand new to the forum and to my healthy lifestyle. I am 3 days into changing my life and thought I'd look online for a forum to help share my story and connect with others on the same path.

I am 29 and on Monday came in at 340lb. I could try to blame it on a bunch of things, but I did it to myself.

I've started my exercising with moderate hiking, 2 miles a day so far in the park near my house. Gotta start somewhere!

Hope to share success with you all.

Your friend,
Steve

Hey thanks man. Thought I'd post an update here. Came in this morning at 298.8. Down 42.2 since overall. There's no secret. Eat less, move more, and find will power you never realized you had and it will happen. I've got a long way to go, but when I got sub 300 this morning and cried for a while, I felt like I'd celebrate a bit by going for a jog :)

It can be done everyone. Hope you're joining me.

Awesome! Keep up the good work. I am starting my healthy lifestyle as we speak (literally). I am 265lbs and I feel so bummed about it! So, what better thing to do than CHANGE IT! :) I am currently looking for things i can do within the home since I have a 1yr old and am a Stay At Home Mom. Any suggestions?

Okay so here's the deal. As of 56 days ago, I hadn't exercised since high school (10 years). This morning I jogged two miles without feeling I was going to die. 56 days ago, just walking 2 miles made me feel like I was going to die. It is going to absolutely suck for at least 3-4 weeks but you just simply have to fight through it. I had spent the past 4 years looking for some quick fix, some infomercial that would be my savior, some gimmick. It ain't there. I found a park in my area that is really quiet in the mornings, where I can feel a bit 'safer'. Gyms are intimidating if you're not used to it, even still for me considering I have a long way to go.

I'm not sure what tv provider you have, but I have uverse by at&t and they have some amazing fitness videos on demand. If I was at home with a little one watching Wiggles, I'd be on the floor with them doing crunches. Make them think its a game with you. Heck, use the kid as a weight. Access every part of your life at home and try to make it physically beneficial opposed to not. But honestly, grab the stroller and hit the park. Walking and diet alone will literally melt off 10 pounds before you know it.

I've read it takes 3 weeks for the human mind to consider something habitual. So those 3 weeks you're going to hear your mind giving you a ton of reasons to give up. But remember this: "Nothing will taste as good as feeling thin will feel".

You can do it. Forget everyone else. Don't be embarrassed or bummed about it. Change your life.

Walking was my first step.

As kid says - push the 1yr old round the neighbourhood, off to the park... Walking is amazing exercise...

Walking was the main exercise I used in my big project a few years back... I still wear a pedometer all day every day and see how many steps I have done... Get a pedometer and let it challenge you to be more active than the old you of last week or last month... Build up to being more active than you ever dreamt possible...

Congrats on your success so far. I too have just started in the last few weeks and have already noticed a huge difference in the way that I feel. I also have about 100 lbs to lose and love to walk and hike. Keep up the good work!

Congrats. I am a new member and hope to loose some. I have about 80lbs to loose. I have given up sugar and even without exercise managed to loose about 10lbs. need to get out and move.
