My introduction

I am 173 or more cm (a bit above 5'8") and 61 kg (134.5 pounds), I am not by any means overweight but am trying to lose body fat for a leaner look. Just under a month ago just after my 17th birthday I got down to 124 pounds (56.5 kg). However, I did this in a really unhealthy way (starving myself for several weeks) and so I lost some muscle mass and I looked pale and just horrible. I then started to eat a lot as I could no longer take eating 500 calories a day and gained 8 pounds or so but while eating a lot I also did a lot of conditioning and added some muscle to my body as well, especially in my abs. So right now I want to lose 10 pounds of body fat (through excercise) and get myself a great body. I'm pretty well proportioned although my hips are pretty wide and it makes me look thicker than I am. I'm naturally big boned but here is my body:

That was when I was 57 kg. I lose weight in my arms and upper body pretty quickly, but getting it off my stomach and hips comes harder. Legs aren't really a problem, although those jeans seriously add 10 pounds.

Great figure, with a little bit of extra muscle in the right places and some leaning out you'll be even better.

My tips for a girl such as yourself:

a) You need protein to gain muscle. So include 20 g of protein with every meal you eat.
b) Exercise with free weights.
i) Lunges will develop your glutes and your hamstrings.
ii) Tricep and bicep work for your arms, dumbbell raises for your shoulders
iii) Concentrate on lower/upper abs at first. Obliques can be worked on at the end if you dont like the shape of your waist at the end of your weight loss.

Completely optional? Quadricep extensions. I think quad muscles on a girl are extremely sexy and make them look ultra-athletic and fit.

Warning...to gain this muscle to fill out your physique you might look better at 125-126 lbs than 122 lbs. Gaining that muscle and still weighing 122 lbs would mean youd need to drop 15-16 lbs of fat...something that I dont think would suit your height.

Hi Nina,

Darn it all wish I could be in my almost 17 yr old body again! Sounds like you are going about it the right way. You definitely need to incorporate some sort of resistant exercise. And eat. :)

Have you ever thought about martial arts? It incorporates all parts of the mind and body - and keeps things toned and tightened.
