Hello everyone.
I'm a 20 year old female from Indiana. I've been interested in fitness since I was fifteen and watched my dad (step-dad, actually) prepare for a triathlon. I was fascinated by everything he had to put into it, especially his nutrition. I've been hooked on it since then. It breaks my heart to see so many unhealthy people in this world. Throughout Jr and High school I competed in volleyball and track. But more than anything I love to water ski, particularly in slalom and spend most of my summers training and competing for it.
I always thought I was in-shape until, at my Dad's insistence, I hired a trainer for my last semester of school before the Summer break started. He showed me that I wasn't in as good of shape as I thought I was. It's amazing what a good trainer will do for you. He NEVER let me sit back in my comfort zone and work. He always knew just how hard to push. When I started in January I was at around 22-23% body fat. When I finished in May before going home for Summer I was down to just under 18% and possessed some awesome muscle tone.
I'm 6'1 and weigh right around 150. I have a very clean diet, although I have a difficult time with anything that includes the combination of the words "peanut" and "butter." I've never been a fan of bread, rice, or pastas. But I'm not grain free. I have to have some carbs or I can't make it through a day of slalom runs on the lake or a workout in the gym. I usually get carbs through fruits, organic rolled oats, and milk (I love my milk).
I'm looking forward to sharing knowledge on these boards and hopefully I don't say anything too stupid. I do hope I can contribute something useful here and there. Thanks everyone.
