Challenges DMR is undertaking:

Thats all for this thread now. I'll add some pictures when I have time to get the pictures done and uploaded to view.. though will take some time I'm a bit shy -lol- Anyway if anyone wanted to have a friend/partner to help motivate each other I'd be more then happy to team up with someone and do this! :willy_nilly:

So this is the first day of this thread, and 3rd day into my um rather not use the word "diet" sounds pathetic... guess new way of living and being more conscious about what, when, and how much I eat.

Over the past 3 days I've been heading out to the gym for about ~1-2hrs getting a good 30-40mins of cardio and the rest resistance training or some days just cardio work.

Usually its 20-30mins walking on the tread and 10mins on the bike and 5mins on this row machine, which i gotta say kills my stomach lol. I find I can't walk heaps, say 40mins+ feet and calves hurt after awhile, perhaps its my shoes but I think a good 30mins walk is enough.

AS for what I eat, I just keep eating at the right times, decent breakfast but of course not overdoing it, and not eating in the evening besides dinner, so guess nothing after 7pm'ish. I've also totally cut and sugary drinks, only water, fresh juice, and occasional glass of peach tea with meals, other than that it's only water all the way. Already I find cutting off sugary drinks has made a big difference no doubt... heard its basically like drinking fat with all those soda's and such with high sugar.

Anyways thats all for now.

30 minute is fine for a cardio session, you don't need to be spending 2 hours at the gym even if you are doing both cardio and weights on the same day. Don't lift weights every day, 3 days per week with a full body routine is good for a beginner. Your diet is the most important aspect of dropping the extra fat.

Thanks Sunflower!

Yeah Trusylver, i don't always do resistance training every day, mainly just get in the cardio and of course healthy :)

21st of February; 4th day into my goal.

Well Another day has passed and still on track. Did a good 60mins at the gym for Cardio + Resistance workout; 30mins on the tread at 5-6 km/h (3-4 m/h) 5 mins on the Rowing machine then 25mins doing some resistance mainly on legs.

Food intake was pretty good, sort of a big bowl of cereal for breakfast, didn't really have a lunch since i woke up late... went to gym and dinner was a Soup I'm eating as part of my plan but not the only thing i have for dinner. So I also had a little rice salad, which had tuna and some vegetables in it. Also made some fresh juice which i shared with my mum;

Juice;- 4 oranges, 4 apples, and 2 carrots. <- this is absoutely delicious and a good kick start if you're tired!

The soup;- celary, quarter of cabbage, 3 tomatoes, 1 red capsicum, 1 onion (all chopped up), little salt & pepper, all this is chucked in a pot and filled with water (up to where all the contents fill up to], and boiled for1-2hrs.

After that its ready, can be frozen to eat for a week later or such. Like I said earlier I don't eat this every day but it's very good for you besides its lack in taste and appeal! lol

5th day into goal;
Wasn't too bad, did an hour at the gym after work, eating wise.. pretty decent aswell.

I'm finding it so hard to say NO to grabbing some other 'unhealthy' types of foods, but just focusing and repeating the goal in my head makes me think well if i just keep saying no to grabbing those things ... and keep saying no.. it will eventually kill my urge for it hopefully haha... Must focus on my goal!

Finished my work for the week. so can focus on going to gym and eating healthy... though it can be a little difficult eating healthy when you're stuck at home with not much to do!

Time to think what to eat tonight and try encourage my body to the gym tonight heh :smilielol5:

Hiya Dom. Another Aussie here, although a whole lot older. ;)

I'm also an "old" nurse. Retired a couple of years ago. Good luck with the nursing, and good on you for choosing to be fit and healthy!

Hey there Mrs Shadow! Age is only a number! I got a fair few older friends so it i don't think about it much, working as a PCA at the moment while I'm studying to get my Div2 med endorsed cert. after that of to uni to get my div1.. quite a long way. Thankyou for the luck! :)

Have you got a diary? I could check on

Well I've hit the gym today for an 70mins which I'm content with, I might go again this evening when my mum comes back from work as she wanted to get some in. But depending how eager I am... haha

I ended up going to the gym again last night!! lol I think it was a decision made because I ate a bit much yesterday :S So in total a good 2hrs workout.

Heading off to the gym later today, I think I've finally gotten into the groove of things, all that is needed is to stay consistent and focused!
:hurray:

Hey Dom,
welcome, you seem to be doing well, so I cannot overwhelm you with my infinite wisdom like I usually do... dammit! I am a medic and I am always glad to see people entering the universe of healthcare (in any position). I am also going to be doing some rotas in august/september in Melbourne!!! I have never been "down under" and I am beyond excited... I hope to be at goal then, apparently all the girls in Australia are fit... don't wanna stick out like a sore thumb!

Have a great end to your week and a fantastic weekend, Camy

Thanks Shawnnam, thought i find its usually pretty fast at the start then gets harder to maintain the loss of weight/week.

Constantly having to watch what you eat, controlling the urges to just grab some easy yummy food... god sounds like a drug addiction :p
