Greetings friends, I'm new to the weight loss forum.

My name's Steve, I'm 19 years old, Currently I weight 186 pounds and I'm 6 foot 1.

This isn't a major weight loss diary, I don't need to lose that much weight. But more of a fitness diary!

My goal is to be around 180. But more importantly, my goal is to have 6 pack abs :D.

I've had a 6 pack when I was 17, but two years of university had me packing on the pounds.

3 months ago I was 204 but I began running a lot and eating a lot healthier and I've gotten down to 186. I'm going to start going to the gym again tomorrow, instead of just running. I've been at a bit of a plateau so I'm just going to track my progress as I try to get a 6 pack for September.

I'll probably start posting a couple pictures of my progress since numbers are not the greatest way to show how my body is being affected.

I've been away from home since the beginning of May and my girlfriend and I have had a bit of trouble. I want to return in September with the abs I had when I started dating her.

This seems like a great community, I'm excited to get involved.

So I guess I'll do a daily entry with my weight, yesterdays diet and workout.

So Day 1

Today's weight: 186 Lbs

Yesterday's Diet: Not great, I had eggs and toast for breakfast and a burger with coleslaw for dinner. I was on the road a lot and I didn't cook for myself so I couldn't exactly help it, but it wasn't one of my best days.

Yesterday's Workout: Ran for 2 miles on the treadmill in 25 minutes. Went on my rowing machine for 10 minutes, then did 40 push ups and 40 sit ups. Good work out overall.
 
Day 2

Well last night was game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, so I was bad :(

Today's Weight: 186.4

Yesterday's Diet: Bowl of Vector with Strawberries for breakfast. 1 sandwhich (lettuce, mayo, mustard, tomato and sausage), 1 apple, 5 strawberries, 1 stalk of celery for lunch. Turkey Panini with fries for dinner. Not a great dinner because I went to a sports bar to watch the hockey game. The worst par was that I had 3 beers too:(

Yesterday's Worktout: Went straight from work to the bar, got home at 11 and had to go to sleep, so I didn't get a work out in :(

I'm so embarrassed! Second day I'm so bad! I've been so good for the last 6 weeks, stupid hockey game we didn't even win!

Anyways, today is a new day with no hockey game. Should be a good day :)
 
There are always going to be days like these from time to time, you just need to get on with good eating and good exercise without letting that one day get you down.
 
Day 3

Today's Weight: 184.4

Yesterday's Diet: Banana, yogurt and granola bar for breakfast. Sandwich, (with mayo, mustard, lettuce, sausage), apple, orange, juice for lunch. A piece of chicken, little bit of potatoes, and a salad for dinner. Overall a good day as far as my diet goes. No snacking and everything I ate was reasonably healthy.

Yesterday's Workout: So I planned on joining the gym yesterday because Tuesday(yesterday) was the only time they were open past 5pm. Since I work till 5pm everyday this is the only day I could sign up. So I went there and no body was there! I was pretty frustrated. But I ran home and I was committed to getting a good workout. So after the 2.5km run home I did some sets of push ups, sit ups, leg lifts, and crunches. I wanted to get a workout for my arms too, so I filled a bucket of water and did curls with that. It was surprisingly a very good workout because it was pretty heavy and you had to stay in control to avoid spilling water everywhere :p. I also did some tricep dips. My grandmother then asked me to help her outside, I had to tear up a bunch of grass which was a good workout for about 45 minutes. I then did a couple more sets of my bucket curls :p and tricep dips. I then did about 10 minutes on my rowing machine and then another 10 minutes on the treadmill going for about 0.8 of a mile.

So it was a very weird workout, but overall very effective. It lasted about 2 hours overall and I was dead by the end of it.

A good day for me, feeling good. Thanks for the replies Trusylver, it gives me more motivation to post when I get some feedback :)

Day 4

I'm a bit down because of the Canuck's loss last night, as well as the disgrace some of the rioter's brought our city but whatever.

Today's Weight: 184.8

Yesterday's Diet: 1 egg, two pieces of toast(1 with peanut butter and jelly) for breakfast. Sandwich(mustard, mayo, lettuce, and sausage), 1/2 Sandwich with Peanut butter and jelly, a few cherries, and some carrots for lunch. 3 small buns with egg salad and a bowl of noodle soup for dinner. Overall a decent day for eating. Someone brought in a box of cookies from 'Cookies by George' into work. I've had them before and they're delicious, but I resisted yesterday! :) Although, when the Canucks lost I had one of my Grandma's cookies. I guess one cookie is okay.

Yesterday's workout: Again the hockey game got in the way. I was pretty sore/tired from the day before but I decided to go for a run on the treadmill during the 2nd intermission, for about 15 minutes. I did a couple sets of push ups and sit ups before bed as well. But not much other than that. Not a great day as far as working out goes. My arms are still pretty sore, hopefully I'll be able to loosen them up by tonight.

Welcome to the forums hun, great job on starting a journal! When I get down to my desired weight I also plan on keeping my journal still running, having a fitness diary myself :) What's your favourite workout?

A little reminder as you hadn't post about it: water. Make sure you drink a nice amount of water every day! :)

Hey thanks for the feedback. Yeah I'm a huge hockey fan, I've played hockey all my life and I was raised in Vancouver so the Canucks are kind of a big deal to me :p. And yeah I guess I forgot to mention that I usually drink 2-3 cups of water during the day at work, 1-2 during dinner and 3 full water bottles during/after my workout. I also drink a cup of coffee almost every weekday. Sometimes I'll skip it but most days I need it in the morning.

I haven't really thought about it, but I would have to say playing any sport is by far my favorite workout, my top two would be hockey and basketball. I'm a huge competitor so no matter what I do I play hard and play to win :p. I remember when I was working out and I hadn't played basketball for awhile, and I had been doing cardio at the gym. Oh man it was an eye opener that you can't get the same workout on a machine that you can when you're playing a sport. After 20 minutes I was dying. I just wasn't used to the full speed aspect of it. I've learned since that even if I'm sweating it doesn't mean I'm going hard enough. Got take it to the limit sometimes.

As far as workouts go at the gym, I really enjoy running actually. I used to hate it, but now that I've kind of built myself up to it I actually enjoy a nice run.

Hockey is not a big sport over here but personally i feel right at home at the rink and If i still lived near one I would still be playing Broomball. your right sweat has very little to do with the quality of the workout, some people will sweat buckets with minimum exercise yet other can give it everything and still not sweat.
 
Greetings friends! Totally agree Trusylver, I've been checking my heart rate more frequently now, to see how each workout is making my heart work.

Day 5

Today's Weight: 183.2

Yesterday's Diet: A bowl of cereal for breakfast. 1+1/2 Egg Salad Sandwich, cherries, carrots, and juice for lunch. Chicken(with cranberry sauce), mashed potatoes(with gravy :( ), and broccoli for dinner. I don't cook dinner for myself so not a whole lot I can do about it but I know the gravy was bad. I was actually given too much so I ate my broccoli first and then started on my chicken and potatoes. I got pretty quickly and decided to save the rest of my potatoes and chicken for today's lunch! Overall a good day as far as my diet goes.

Yesterday's Workout: Well I saw this workout on this website and thought I'd give it a try, the 100 work out. This is what I'm talking about :


I added a couple more minutes to the running because I wanted to finish the mile, I then did about 10 minutes on my rowing machine, followed by some push ups and bucket curls(they're great actually:p). The 100 workout is a good workout, I had a lot of difficulty with the leg lifts. Other than that it went pretty smoothly.

I was pretty dead after this workout but it felt damn good. I'm a little sore and tired today but it was so worth it! :)

Okay this is the part of the week that I struggle with the most. Monday-Thursday is easy for my to stay on track but the weekend is so hard for me :(. My work has a 'bake day' every Friday. Someone basically brings in a bunch of tasty food for all of us to enjoy together. It's delicious but very unhealthy. Saturday I'm going with my aunt and uncle to a carnival so it's going to be tough to eat healthy :(. Sunday I'm going to my grandpa's Father's Day pool party and I've already been informed we're having pizza. I don't even know what I'm supposed to do. I'm not making these choices! :( I know that I'm going to have to eat unhealthy. Sigh, hopefully there will be some healthy alternatives that I can fill up on. Wish me luck!

Hi!!..went through ur journal..great that u dont need to loose weight..u will reach ur goal soon...ur diet n exercise is fabulous..

weekends with family and yummy food...I can so understand..hope alls well..and it wasnt too bad

Day 6

Today's weight: 183.6

Yesterdays' Diet: Bowl of oatmeal with bluberries and bannana for breakfast. I had the bake day so I had a brown, a cookie, some fruit, and some crackers and cheese and then I had a smaller lunch of a bit of the previous night's dinner as well as some carrots. For dinner I had a salad with some tuna which was delicious. The problem came that I stayed up till 6am and then had chips and salsa, a few cookies, and a bowl of cereal. Ugh, I feel gross today! Damnit, if I am in the 184's by the end of this weekend I'll be very happy. I just saw the lunch my aunt packed for the day, oh god so much junk food!

Yesterday's workout: 20 minutes on the treadmill followed with a little bit of biscep curls, I was actually really sore from the 100 work out so I'm relatively happy with this. It doesn't look like I'll be getting a workout out today though.

Anyways, I'm getting relatively close to my goal of 180 but I'm not really near where I want my body to be so my new goal is 175! :D

Anyways, thanks for the support friends. Hopefully I get through this weekend intact!

Okay so I didn't get a chance to update this on the Sunday so here goes.

Day 7

Today's Weight: Unknown (didn't sleep at home so I didn't have a scale to weigh myself)

Yesterday's Diet: Well I did okay as far as diet goes. I thought it'd be worse. I had two toasts with PB+J for breakfast with some juice. Carrots, cucumber, yogurt, a banana and a few Pringles for lunch. Then a sandwich and a half, some veggies, and an egg for dinner. But I snacked later in the night during the carnival, had some licorice, a bit of chocolate and those amazing mini donuts. It was not a great day for diet but it was the best I could do.

Yesterday's workout: Well I went to this carnival thing the entire day so I couldn't really get a workout but I was on my feet the entire day which kind of counts for something!

Day 8

Today's Weight: 185.6 (Sadface)

Yesterday's Diet: Had some fruit, a few veggies, a sandwich, and half an egg for brunch. Then snacked on some chips with dip and veggies during the day. For dinner I had pizza and salad. I was at a family functions so I kind of had to eat what was given to me.

Yesterday's Workout: Well it was a pool party so I was in the pool for a few hours playing around with my little cousins, they were hanging off me for half the time. I thought this would burn off enough calories for me to stay in the 184's but obviously not :(. When I got home I went for a 15 minutes run and did some push ups.

Sigh, I'm sad today. I'm tired, I think I lost my iPod and my whole week of worth blown away just like that, damn. Back to square one :(. I really wish I could just make my own food for myself all the time, it would be so much easier. Also, I need to start sleeping earlier, I've been sleeping so late and it's not helping at all. I'm going to see a play with an aunt and uncle of mine tonight so once again I probably won't be eating healthy :(. I sure hope they make some healthy food. Whatever, I've got the rest of the week to get back to where I was last week. And I don't think I'm going to be doing anything on the weekend so maybe I'll be able to make some good progress this week, after tonight at least.

Day 9

Today's Weight: 185.6

Yesterday's Diet: I'm going to start doing this differently.

Breakfast: Cinamon bun, fruit n' yougurt parfait and fruit and fiber muffin from McDonald's.

Lunch: Sandwich(mayo, mustard, lettuce, salami), apple, juice, carrots

Dinner: Subway Cold Cut combo with 1 cookie. I had a cookie with it and some grapes. I also had some popcorn too.

Yesterday's workout: Didn't get a workout in because I got picked up straight from work and I went to go see Cats, it was pretty good. But I got home at 11:15 so I didn't really get a chance to work out. Too bad. Anyways, I'm well rested so I'm going to go super hard in my workout today! I gotta get that weight going in the right direction again!
