Hello, everybody.

I have always wanted to join a weight loss community but never got around to it. I have been here a few times lurking around a bit but decided I would actually join today. :)

I have been losing weight for a while now but it has suddenly stopped. I figured I had everything under control but it's been 2 weeks and I haven't even lost 1 pound. I have eaten and exercised the same amount for the last 3 months I don't know why it would suddenly stop now. I was hoping I could get some advice on the subject.

I am male, 21 years old, 5'10". I used to weigh 245 but lost around 46 pounds. I am now 199 / 200ish pounds. I weight lift every other day for about 30 minutes. I use a recumbent exercise bike for 1 to 2 hours every single day (the bike says about 700 - 1000 calories burned after my work outs). I consume 1200 calories every day (though after reading a lot of the posts and stickies, I'm starting to think that may be a bit low).

A few problems I think that may be causing problems: I do the same exact work out for weight lifting every other day. I do the same exact exercise, recumbent biking, every single day. I eat the exact same food every single day. The food I consume consits of healthy choice turkey dogs, light bread, and one carb ketchup. I eat that and pretty much nothing else for every meal, mainly because it's easy for me to count. I drink Sugar Free lemonade (10 calories each) and water every day, though not much water.

Can anybody give me any advice as to why I have not lost any weight in the past 2 weeks when I had been losing 2 - 4 pounds a week before I hit 200?
I would appreciate any help or observations. :)

just a suggestion

I am not a doctor but from what I could understand, you are supposed to havea varied alimentation, plenty of colours lke green veg, yellow peppers, red tomatoes etc..I think your body doesn't react to your food intake even if it's not much and actually I am wondering if you eat enough for your weight, your age and the fact that you are male....I think you should increase your food intake and start changing your same meals for something a bit more exciting!;) I don't like fruit for instance but I noticed that my body does and feels good afterwards so I tend to give it what it demands(well from time to time!:p )
Good luck!

Hi ENuno and welcome to the boards. Congratulations on your loss so far. I am new here as well and this seems like a great place for information and support. You have a great plan in place in some ways. You have made excercise a part of your daily life which is wonderful and sometimes very hard. You are also observing what you are eating. Now...here is where I would like to make some observations. I am saying this from my own personal experience. I think you need to be eating more calories per day and for goodness sake get some variation in you diet. You will not be able to eat only turkey dogs for the rest of you life :) If you need help figuring calories in foods try this site You will be able to look up foods and also log what you are eating. I would also suggest trying to add some fresh fruits and veggies into your plan. Mostly just start tweaking what you are already doing. As far as how many calories you should be shooting for I am not the expert but even if you were not excercising you should be eating more than 1200-1500. I would even say that somewhere over 2000- with the excercise you are doing- would still show a nice loss. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thank you for the advice guys, I think I'll try and buy some frozen foods that are easy to cook to change my diet around. I will also try to up my calories to 1500 or so and see if that helps. I hope I haven't been unknowingly starving myself!
